Those who read my review of the previous volume of this series may recall that I thought the First Born character was too one-dimensional; nothing more than a power-hungry brute of an antagonist. Right off the bat, this volume gives readers exactly what we (or at least I) wanted and delves into the history of the First Born, painting him in a sympathetic light as a neglected child of a HUGELY dysfunctional family. It was also a treat to see Wonder Woman struggle and eventually come to grips with her new role in the plot, further developing her already fleshed-out character.The one drawback of this volume is once again Sudzuka's pencils in the front half of the book, but this time around it's not that much of one. While dissimilar to Chiang's, Sudzuka's pencils in this volume are very expressive and aid the dialogue of each character...to a point. There are a few panels where the expressions fly right past subtle and straight into the cartoon realm, but it's not enough to detract from the overall narrative. Also, I would like to point out that Diana looks absolutely bad-a$$ wielding that energy glaive in the climax of the volume.With everything taken into consideration, this was a marked improvement upon an already great previous volume, and makes me more than excited to read the next and final volume of this creative team's run on the series. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love this reboot of Wonder Woman *by V***T on November 1, 2014* I love this reboot of Wonder Woman, It's absolutely perfect from Vol 1 all the way to Vol 5. What people have to understand is, it's hard for a female lead alone to garner attention from males just as much as females. It's not that Wonder Woman plays second fiddle in her own comic, it's just that they are introducing WW's world to us so we can understand her new back story. So that we the readers can better understand her world and all the complex emotions and relationships with in it. As we fall in love with the other characters in WW's world, we better understand WW's motivation and deep desire to protect those that she loves. Her stories are so relatable because this is how we all are with our friends and family. Sometimes people we love make us mad, do unforgivable things and move in and out of our lives. This is especially true with family, these series of graphic novels have made me view WW no longer as a DC fictional power house, but as a big sister who watches over me from afar. I love WW and all that she is, it's stories like this that will bound me to DC forever. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Goddess Of War Prepares For The Final Battle *by C***W on November 15, 2019* The amazing Wonder Woman series continues with more backstory for the First Born as he continues his mission to destroy the gods. As with other volumes, there is great action, worldbuilding, and characters. At the end of volume 3 Diana made the hard decision to kill Ares to prevent the First Born from doing so, but now, she wants anything but to take up Ares' mantle. Her arc and journey through this volume, realizing the inevitability of taking her old teacher's place, is pretty astounding to behold.
