She has a distinct howl that she uses when she's bringing in a live critter, such as a bird or a mouse, and she has also brought in snakes and even a small snapping turtle once. She generally brings them in unharmed, as if to have something to play with later, although after about the fourth or fifth trip, some of the frogs have been known to have a limp. She has another howl that she uses when she has a cat toy, and I can tell the two howls apart easily, so I generally know when she has a live one; so do the other cats, as she does have their interest when she brings a real critter in. However, for this little squiggly worm, she uses what sounds, to me, like the same howl that she uses when she had a live animal, although my other cats don't respond to it, so there must be a difference that is undetectable to flawed human ears. My point is that it is apparent, even from the howl that she makes when she has it, that her squiggly worm is a very special toy indeed. It is obvious that it is her favorite toy from the amount of time that she spends batting it around, picking it up and throwing it into the air, then taking it with her when she retires to a cat bed. I suppose I could rate it down a couple of stars because my other cats couldn't care less about it but, to Bird, it's definitely a five-star cat toy, and she's the resident expert on cat toys. A few months ago, I noticed that I hadn't seen her with her worm for awhile. I looked for it but couldn't find it. A few days ago, I was rearranging my office when I found it behind a bookcase. She had apparently batted it back there and then couldn't reach it. I set it on the steps for her to find it and, within a half hour, I heard the howl that let me know that she had found her squiggly worm again. Apparently my review is for ALL of the toys I purchased *by S***A on July 17, 2022* UPDATE: I have no clue how this makes sense or why they would do it this way.. But apparently they are grouping ALL of the petstages toys I purchased, together to be reviewed as one!!! So here we go, the one they show in the default picture is the pretzel: For some reason I thought this was going to be bigger than it is. No matter.. it’s cute, yet tiny, and well designed. Strong durability and good quality. Neither of my cats have cared for it. And even if they did, it’s too small for them to actually chew on for the purpose of teething or cleaning their teeth. They didn’t even want to play with it or bat it around. On the flip side, my puppy was briefly interested.. So at least it temporarily entertained him. I wouldn’t buy this one again unless at any point any of them do find interest in them. The mint stick: Cats had mild interest at first, then stopped caring. Puppy loves it. It is small, maybe the size of my pointer finger. Perfect size for them though. Donuts: Cats loved them at first, then lost interest. The interest seems to have come back, as I have been finding the tiny ones..donut holes? Around the house. Puppy is drawn to them, so I need to keep an eye on the two small pieces so he doesn’t choke. THE PICKLE!!!!!! This one is excellent!! Both cats like it, the youngest LOVES it. This is the first toy she went for out of all of them that I bought. She played with it for a long time, and still goes to it to rub on it, bite it a few times, or just lay with it. The puppy also likes this one. This one is way bigger than all of the others. Very well crafted/constructed. There is a soft/smooth side, and a netting side (for chewing), and it has a crunch sound and feel when you grip it or pinch it. The quality is great, as is the durability. I would DEFINITELY buy this one again, without hesitation. Final note.. the catnip in EVERY TOY was FRESH! So fresh and strong that when the Amazon bag came, my kitten immediately took it and laid on it..pawed at it, then started chewing at it to get it open!!
