LIVING is Jan Gunnar Hoff's first solo piano album. His personal blend of different styles and influences is presented in its purest form - simply music. Some of Hoff's pieces are meditative and expressive, while others have a strong rhythmic nerve, creating contrast and variation in the programme.Jan Gunnar Hoff has worked extensively as a bandleader and jazz artist since 1992, developing a distinctive musical style. His band with a.o. Audun Kleive and Bjørn Kjellemyr had its breakthrough at Vossa Jazz 1995 and later played at the London Jazz festival, Molde Int. Jazz festival and several major festivals and venues in Scandinavia.Hoff's jazz compositions have been performed in collaborations with Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Alex Acuña, Maria Joao, Mathias Eick and many others. He has made a number of albums in his own name and has composed 180 works for different ensembles. Hoff is also teaching as a professor at the Universities of Tromso and Kristiansand.As a sideman Hoff has contributed to numerous recordings in different genres. He was the arranger and ensemble leader of Quiet Winter Night, Grammy-nominated for Best Surround Sound in 2013, an album where he successfully merges elements of jazz, folk and popular music.Hoff's collaboration with 2L and Morten Lindberg is continued on LIVING. If you like jazzy, classical and improvisational music ... this it it! Delivered in high resolution multi channel surround, you are there with the piano listening to crystal clear music, not harsh but not too mellow. I hope there's more to come from this talented artist.

Schöne Songs aber miserable Aufnahmen
Zunächst mal das Positive:Für den Preis kriegt man Viel. Eine PA Blu-Ray und dazu noch eine Hybrid SACD (die sowohl als SACD als auch als normale Audio CD dient)Und nun kommen wir auch schon zum Negativen:Die Qualität der Aufnahmen ist für dieses Format einfach nicht gut. Stillerauschen im Hintergrund und Übersteuerungen (z.B. in Form von Zischen bei Tastenschlägen) sowohl bei der Blu-Ray, als auch auf der SACD (im SACD und Audio CD Modus gehört) sind wahrnehmbar.Sowas kennt man typischerweise sonst nur von günstigen "Best of Klassik" CDs oder MP3 Downloads. Den Titel "living" z.B., habe ich noch als MP3 und kann keinen Unterschried zur Blu-Ray/SACD feststellen.Hier kann man sich meiner Meinung nach den Kauf der PA Blu-Ray sparen. Ein digitaler Kauf und brennen auf eine CD bzw. Abspielen vom USB Stick, werden die selbe Klangqualität ergeben.Versteht mich nicht falsch, die Titel sind trotzdem echt schön und die Tonqualität ist für "Standard" absolut in Ordnung. Aber es ist längst nicht auf einem Audiophilem Level der eine PA Blu-Ray oder SACD rechtfertigt.Wer einfach mal erleben möchte was seine Stereoanlage kann, dem kann ich eher die Hybrid SACD MDG-Sampler "The Audiophile Sound of MDG"empfehlen. Für kleines Geld bietet diese Titel in sehr guter Aufnahmequalität ohne Rauschen und Zischen.Getestet wurde mit:Als Abspielgerät: Maranz UD5007 Blu-Ray PlayerAls Verstärker: Marantz NR 1506 AV ReceiverLautsprecher: 2 x Nubert NuLine 80Sowohl das Abspielgerät, als auch der Verstärker waren auf "pure Audio" gestellt, um den originalen Ton der Quelle nicht zu verfälschen.Wenn es nur um die Titel geht, spreche ich hier allen Fans von Klaviermusik eine klare Kaufempfehlung aus. Allerdings reicht es in die MP3 Version zu investieren. Eine bessere Klangqualität wird man mit der PA Blu-Ray bzw. der SACD nicht haben.

Il blu-ray pure sound esalta ove fosse necessario la musica prescelta in questo programma, pura musica in puro sound. La qualità della registrazione è semplicemente stupenda.

Gorgeous. Stereo versus Surround tracks allow you to "test" the audio setup. The technical recording is so good.Hoff's piano sits right in my listening room. And his playing, timing, presentation of his music is superb. Highly recommended.

Bluray pure audio accompagné de son sacd. Son dispo en 2.0 ou en dts hd 5.1 pour une qualité d'écoute optimale. Un vrai régal pour les oreilles des amoureux du piano jazzy.

Sehr schöne Klaviermusik. Sehr detailreich in der Auflösung. Es ist schon Wahnsinn was an mehr raus kommt.Nicht mit normalen CD's\BluRay's zu vergleichen. Davon sollte es mehr geben.
