You can either place this on your desk or on a table or countertop (e.g. some people have a computer in their kitchen) to organize your computer/laptop/keyboard/display layout better. This monitor stand weighs 3.4 pounds and has outer dimensions of: 18.5" width x 12.25" depth x 5.25" height. The top shelf has surface dimensions of: 18.25" width x 10.0" depth. The space underneath the shelf is 17.25" wide, which is the 18.5" outer width minus the width of the two tubular legs. The space underneath the shelf has a usable height of 4.5", which is the 5.25" outer height minus the height of the tubular metal that supports the top shelf. Even though this is advertised as a "monitor stand", I am using this as a laptop stand, placing a 17-inch laptop on top of the shelf. My computer desk already has a raised shelf where my two display monitors are positioned, and my desk has an adjustable keyboard tray where my keyboard and mouse reside. I have multiple desktop and laptop computers, so sometimes I place one laptop underneath this stand's shelf, with its lid closed and a VGA cable connecting that laptop to a larger monitor, and another 17-inch laptop sits on the top shelf of this stand. When placing a laptop on this stand (where I use a separate Bluetooth keyboard instead of the laptop's own keyboard), the stand's perforated metal surface functions like a ventilated platform to help cool the laptop. Since many laptops have their fan intake vents located underneath the laptop, it is advantageous that this stand's shelf surface is a perforated metal grill to allow for great air circulation all along the bottom of the laptop. Most of the other laptop riser-stands are either made of flimsy plastic or metal mesh that is too thin with too much flex in the structure. But regardless of whether you need to place a large display monitor, a large laptop, or other item, this stand serves as a simple, sturdy, and modern-looking support.

I looked at a lot of different monitor stands and settled on this one because it has (1) a good size (doesn't take up a ton of desk space but big enough to get the job done), (2) a convenient design that lets me slide my keyboard under it when not in use (not possible with stands with legs or risers), and (3) a clean, modern look (I'm not picky, but a lot of those adjustable stands are quite ugly). It was everything I hoped it would be. It feels sturdy and high-quality. It's made of metal with a nice-looking finish. (It's not solid black; it's like black with tiny flecks of silver. Comes off as sort of a brushed-metal kind of look, roughly.) The only flaw was that the Allsop logo decal is sort of ugly and was misaligned on the stand I received. It looked like it was stuck on there pretty good, but it actually peeled off really easily and didn't leave a sticky residue behind.

Like many of you out there I ordered this "Monitor Stand" for a purpose other than as a monitor stand with a keyboard and mouse stash below, which saves on desk space. I use such stands all the time at both my IT job and at home but I love the idea of having a need and then looking at non-conventional items that might be used in different ways (re-purposed) to make a suitable accommodation. Such was the case here. I had a satellite dish DVR box that tended to run hot especially if I placed anything below it or on top of it, such as a DVD player, even though I made sure to leave air-flow room. When the dish box got hot it would re-boot and cause recording problems. So, with limited space, I needed a short stacking option and this "Stand" was perfect. I didn't want a multi shelf staggered unit, just something with plenty of air flow room that was able to hold a DVR on top with a dish DVR box below. This stand was the perfect solution. The size is large enough to accommodate standard rack size audio/visual equipment with a little room left over and plenty of space to slide the dish DVD box under with air flow space left over plus the shelf surface has small holes that allow air to flow. I chose the black color stand and it blends perfectly with black and gray equipment. The stand is very sturdy as well. It is nothing short of perfect and it arrived fast and safely packaged. Oh and yes, it would also make a great monitor stand too if that is what you want. I would definitely recommend this stand to a friend. You will certainly be happy with your purchase.

The product arrived a day early - I love when that happens!!! Well packaged and in perfect condition. Ideal size and height (height interior 4-5/8" - external to stand surface 5-1/4", measured at front) for my desk and for my 22" LG LCD flat screen monitor. Ample room underneath for both of my laptops and an airflow spacer between them = more available desktop space. Had to change the angle of my monitor slightly (tilting the top towards me more), but I think that is more a result of the change in height than the angle of the stand. Sturdy, well made product with a sleek, modern, non-obtrusive look. The matte black color blends well with my all black monitor. My main desk is really stable so almost no "bouncing" noted even with a lot of keyboarding movement. When I tested it on the smaller desk that isn't as solid I noted an increase in monitor jiggle (compared to use without a monitor stand). If you are looking for a stand that would be less susceptible to bouncing, or if your desk is more motion sensitive, you may want to consider the 4 legged or full base type of stand. Overall I am VERY pleased with this purchase.

Sturdiest little monitor stand ever. I bought this September 5, 2015 and it has had multiple iMacs/Displays/files/TV/etc. on it during that time. (I also have two of the larger/double Allsop Metal Art Printer Stand with Shelf for Printers, Monitors, Laptops, TV's). I've move office and/or house every few years, it seems. This little workhorse has always shifted with me.... and has also spent extra time knocking around in my storage unit lately - unprotected. With three desks, two standing since 2020, I've been using this small riser off and on since the pandemic depending on the project/work. I came online to check the dimensions before I pulled it out of my porch storage because I want to raise a bamboo desktop drawer unit. (Which, of course, it does beautifully - with room underneath for Letter/A4 size files.) I can't believe how anyone could fault this monitor stand! I wondered whether Allsop had maybe changed the materials or the manner of manufacturing, but it doesn't look like it.... It's virtually the same weight as listed on this site. I'm attaching photos - please know that all the scratches and dirt are mine alone. Also, the photos were taken on top of a shiny curved surface (my chest freezer), so they aren't that great. It looks like there is a dent of some sort on the front left, but that is a reflection. There are no dents after all this time. This Allsop monitor has taken a beating! ....But it's still as functional (and cool-looking) as the day I bought it in 2015. Such a great investment.

I have bought dozens of these, over the years. They are excellent. In my "home video arcade," I have about a dozen classic game systems, each with it's own 13" monitor sitting on one of these. It's perfect. In my bedroom, my cable box and 32" LCD TV rest on a couple of these. Not only does it make the viewing and IR-remote angles better (from bed with bulky covers and a low TV stand), but it doubles the counter space, as I can place junk under the TV and cable box. I had ordered a bunch of these in 2012, which I am still using, obviously. However, I recently (December 2017) ordered 6 more. The quality and appearance have only improved, over time. The "mesh" that constitutes the flat top of the platform has smaller holes, and I think it is more appealing, although you don't see it when something is sitting on it. But what has definitely improved is the quality of the finish. It is a darker shade of grey (when you order "platinum" color instead of black) than my 2012 units, but the quality of the paint job is much better. It's nice to see an affordable accessory like this improve over time. These things rule. If you're looking for something to do what these are designed to do, you have found your perfect product at a reasonable price.

i was beginning to search for a bigger monitor when i noticed that i was hunching over too much while using my pc or playing my PS4 at my desk with my 24" monitor. But then i remembered, Hey! there is monitor stands available to raise your screen and free up space on your desk. I found this at the top of the list when i searched for a monitor stand here on amazon. One of the cheapest i found so i bought it. I set it up yesterday and i am 100% satisfied. My monitor now sits about 5-6 inches higher and i am no longer hunching over in my chair while gaming. Also now i can turn my monitor to face my bed whenever i wanna lay in bed and watch netflix. Awesome for freeing up space on your desk and "raising" your monitor higher. (I didnt want to mount my monitor on the wall) The stand itself is great quality and very sturdy. My monitor doesnt weigh much, maybe 5 lbs if that. So no problem with weight. It claims to support upto 30 lbs. I would definitely buy this stand all over again. Thinking about buying one for the office computer

Super happy with my Allsop Monitor stand. Works perfectly, love the sleek design and it is a nice height to pair with my Mac desktop screen. I can conveniently store my external hard drive, stapler and tape dispenser underneath. Good quality and an unbeatable price!

I love this monitor stand! At first I had my doubts because by looking at the pictures, the stand looked flimsy and doesn't look like it will withhold a heavy monitor - boy was I wrong, it's very sturdy and the quality is amazing. I would highly recommend this product!
