Why isn't there a recall on this product? I'm in the "paper weight" camp; machine never worked from Day 1

We had a bad pump with the first machine. Sent back no problem, full refund. The second machine works just fine. It makes an excellent espresso.

How much is the capacity of the cup to be used?

It's an espresso maker. You can make a 6 ounce cup of coffee with it if you use the double shot filter and a medium or dark roast coffee. I use a 1 ounce cup for the one ounce shot filter. Or two ounce cup for the two ounce shot filter. You can make a double shot Americano, Iced latte or whatever you like once the shots are made. It's an excellent machine. I love mine and bought an extra filter holder on eBay.

What size tamper do I need for the portafilter?

I ordered the 2-sided 2" - 2 1/4" tamper from Crate and Barrel for $6.95, and the 2" size fits perfectly.
