Lord Aur's past and a possibly dangerous future
It's been a long time since the previous volume of How To Build a Dungeon. This one was very good. We see how Lord Aur's conflict with Spina plays out and there is a flashback to Aur's early years as an apprentice to Raz, the woman who mentored him (in more ways than one). We also learn more about his familiar Lilu. Lord Aur has his sights set on a theocratic nation presided over by a saint. Now if you have been following this series, can you guess what this female saint will be experiencing? Aur finds the theocracy ready to respond with a powerful challenge. There were interesting digressions on the nature of magic and the differences between magical and spiritual power. This volume was not quite up to par with previous ones but the series remains solid and intelligent.
