Quality
I am surprisingly pleased with this dual garbage and recycling bin. This is the third one I've purchased. The first two I returned because they were too small.Grant, you, I have not had it for long, but i'm so happy I took a chance on this one. This bin looks so nice next my to my kitchen and I like the one step pedal. The only downfall that I've found so far is that when you want it to stay open, the latch is to difficult for me, so I use small needle nose pleirs. Works for me. Great product so this is not a deal breaker.

Exact same can as the pricier brand
This is absolutely the exact same can that is sold as the Rubbermaid Dual Stream Step-on. I know, because I replaced that Rubbermaid model with this one after the lid broke. So, I can tell you that the can is mostly good - the trash side bin is big enough, and the recycling side is acceptable, but could be better. The downside is going to be the same issue that plagues the Rubbermaid (as it's clearly the same model): the lid will eventually snap and break. There is a LOT of stress put on the plastic around the screw holes that hold the lid on. Over time, that plastic weakens and it snaps. It took nearly 3 years for the Rubbermaid to break, so I'm hoping this one lasts at least that long. I limped it along an extra month by JB Welding the cracked portions and reinforcing it with an old credit card, but it eventually failed again, necessitating it's replacement.I picked the "EKO" brand because it was half the price, and I thought from the pictures that it looked remarkably similar. That hunch was correct. You can even compare the plastic extruding marks between the two and they are the same. The Rubbermaid doesn't have the spot for the charcoal filter, but you can see in the plastic an outline where that part can be molded into the lid. The bins are the same, just different colors. Same holes in the bins to hold the bags, same metal handle on the recycling side. So, if you want the RM one, you might as well just buy this one and save the money.

Glad I bought this!
Works well. After a couple of months it will start to squeak… So I have to figure out if a little WD-40 will fix that. Other than that this is amazing. Much better looking than an open garbage can

Worth the splurge! But also easy to overload in my opinion.
The media could not be loaded. As an adult that was well past the age that hanging a trash bag off a drawer was even remotely acceptable, and having no good place for my la croix and Diet Coke cans like the basic b I am. I finally set out to find a proper trash can.I was LOSING MY MIND over finding a trash can that was up to my unjustly bourgeois standards but wouldn’t cost $40000000000000 dollars…looking at you Simplehuman… sidebar, why are trash cans so expensive? Like I’m in the wrong field, I need that TRASH CAN MONEY HONAAYYYY!I digress… I was still annoyed at how much it cost but it was what I wanted: a cute, covered place for my trash, and cans/bottles! So I bowed down to to the machine that is consumerism and bought it! Boy oh boy am I happy I took a chance on this shiny hunk of metal and plastic!!Pros:I have never wiped finger prints off of it since I bought it months agoKeeps gross smells in (for the most part) and my pup outWell made, sturdyKeeps my cans and trash organizedLock feature works like a charm… unless you get pepper seeds in it and don’t notice until you’re making a review video… ahemStep lever is sturdy, smooth close is Barry white smooth, and the bins are easy to take out!Cons:TLDR: easy to overload, therefore can’t use compostable trash bags. That’s more the eco trash bags’ problem though. The trash bin is tall and and not super wide, comparatively. Which means it can be somewhat easy to overload, or shove trash in too tightly, which then makes it hard to pull the bag out and can causes the bag to rip.So You can’t be totally lazy and just keep shoving the trash down and compacting it. I’d say low to moderate shoving down/laziness is okay. Also due to the dimensions, heftier trash bags are needed, in my opinion. Because the diameter of the apex of the weight of the trash is smaller, and therefore creates more concentrated force…. Rather than shorter fatter trash cans that more evenly distribute the weight/pressure on the bag and causes less ripping. Think of trying to poking a hole with a needle versus a baseball bat….. ya know?Which leads me to another con: I can’t use my eco friendly bags bc they are too thin, nor can I put more in the trash to cut down on the amount of bags I use, so I am bummed in that department bc if I can’t gloat about my compostable trash bags, who even am I? But really that’s the eco trash bags’ problem.Alright so anyway…. Besides that last bit… 1000% recommend this cute, well built, bougie on a budget trash can!(Even though it may or may not want to see the earth burn. Like… idk.. but I’m just sayin’! I think it has good intentions and has a good heart but definitely shady in that department. Would not trust at a Phish concert.)

US Buyer Beware…
Let me start by saying I rarely if ever write poor reviews. Stuff happens and nothing is perfect. When initially purchased, this can was not inexpensive. Really liked it for the first year or so, then it started functioning awkwardly - lid not opening consistently. This is a trash can that’s not used daily as it’s at our cabin so it’s used at most 30-40% of the time. Because it has a three year warranty, I reached out to the company - got to the UK customer service. They were terrific: friendly and very responsive. Sadly, we are in the US and their customer service is non-existence. You call the number and they are never available. If you’re lucky they will call you back. Took forever to get an initial response and then they said their warehouse was moving so they couldn’t respond. I had to keep checking back over the course of a few months. Finally they said the replacement parts are out of stock with no sense of when they would be available - offered me 15% off a new can. I could get 10% just for signing up for emails. Amazon tried to help by providing an alternate number (turns out it was for their legal dept) which was disconnected. US buyer beware.
