Review: A good wooden peel - A great peel for forming, building, and launching pizzas and Strombolis into the oven. Despite some other reviews, mine was fairly smooth (but it does have a small split that I hope that does not grow). It was very dry, so I bought a pint of mineral oil at Walmart for under $3 and applied several coats to both sides. It could probably suck up a few more. Big enough for any pizza, Stromboli, or calzone that you can make in a conventional oven. If you can swing it, you’ll probably want an aluminum peel, too, so that you can easily turn pizzas midway through, and to easily remove them.

A great peel for forming, building, and launching pizzas and Strombolis into the oven. This completes the tools need to launch a 14-15 pizza on to stone in the oven. It’s just rigt and there is a hole in the handle for easy hanging. Again if your cabinet is tall enough.After six months using semolina flour on the peel there were too many launches sticking. I cleaned it after every use. Finally, I gave it a complete orbital sanding. There was some fraying in the basswood. Which could snag the Doug. I got it smooth. Rubbed with some olive oil.
