I decided on Pimax for its massive field of view, set to large - it almost fills your entire visual field.Which Pimax?I opted for the 5K XR for the wider colour range offered by OLED over the higher refresh rate of the 5K Plus. I toyed with the idea of getting the 8K Plus (almost the same price) but felt the upscaling added noise to the image (sweviva youtube) and wasn't as crisp as the native 5K modelswhen I brought mine there were 3 Pimax headsets, now there are 6 but the one to get when it's announced has to be the Pimax Vision8K X XR (hopefully around the same time Nvidia launches the RTX 3080 ti)What’s it Like?Resolution - The resolution of each display is QHD (4 times the old 720p standard) the same as that found on many gaming monitors. So its good, small text on dials, instruments and notice boards are clear and easy to read without sticking your face in. Moving through games, shooting stuff, flying and racing at ultra graphics settings with Brain Warp kicking in! WOW.Distortion - there is some distortion vertically and horizontally on the peripheral vision when using the headset with the field of view is on its highest setting but to compensate for that there is a huge sweet spot that takes up the rest. Once you start playing you hardly notice it.Comfort - The provided headstrap is not the most comfortable and the side straps cut into the tops of my ears, adding a head pressure relief strap for a couple of quid, makes a big difference.You need a powerful PC and graphics card to get the best out this headset. If you don't already have them you will also need some base stations and controllers. Although you can get away with an xbox controller for some VR games and joysticks/wheels if your a VR flyer/racer.

I’ve had the Pimax 5k Xr oled for a couple of weeks and I’m very impressed with the visual quality of this headset, I already own the psvr and oculus quest headsets and feel that the Pimax brings something new to the table with the amazing wide view, it takes me one step closer to the vr experience I’ve always wanted.It’s pretty much plug n play using the Pimax software and steamvr. I’m Currently playing flight sims, racing sims, action and horror games with an Xbox pad and a hotas flightstick, no basestation or Vive controllers. I’m waiting for Pimax controllers etc to be released Which hopefully will be Available early 2020.

I put a ticket in requesting / complaining that pimax fix the initialization issue on the RX 5700 XT last month to the day, and they have now fixed all compatibility issues with the headset and the GPU.Absolutely amazing thank you pimax for fixing this issue on the top of your list!Played a few games and they seem to be working!

I have had my Pimax 5K XR for a few months now, having been one of the early adopters; I've never regretted my purchase as this has totally changed my VR gaming experience. The field of view is HUGE, almost as wide as my peripheral vision and the high resolution OLED displays really make the virtual world look detailed, sharp and full of vibrant colour, with deep blacks too. Setup is easy if you already have either a Vive or Vive Pro setup, as you can simply swap the headset and keep your existing lighthouse sensors and Vive controllers. You can even reuse your Vive deluxe headstrap on the Pimax too, so very little is wasted when you make the upgrade. You will need a decent VR gaming computer, with at least at GTX1080 gpu to get the most from this very advanced headset, but if you do, the switch to a Pimax will blow your mind.

I have been using the Pimax 5k headset for over a year now and it still blows all the competition out of the water. I own all the oculus headsets, the vive and the newer valve index and they all have their plus points but the FOV of the pimax headset and the quality of the screens give a sense of immersion greater than all the other headsets. All the other headsets, regardless of their screen quality and sound hardware, feel like you are looking through binoculars at the world around you. Pimax does feel like being there in the world. Pimax are making great strides in comfort and overall build and software quality and until the other manufacturers build headsets with a comparable FOV then Pimax is the sole provider of quality VR immersion.
