With over 5,300 reviews averaging 4.6 stars, it ranks among the top fantasy anthologies and military fantasy books, offering readers a deeply detailed and interconnected Middle-earth experience. ## Description Long before the One Ring was forged in the fires of Mount Doom, one man—Húrin—dared to defy Morgoth, the first and greatest of the dark lords to plague Middle-earth. Thus did he and his children, Túrin and Niënor, earn the enmity of a merciless foe that would shape the destiny of all the ages to come.Only J.R.R. Tolkien, the undisputed master of the fantastic, could have conceived this magical tale of Elves and Men united against a brutal foe. And only Christopher Tolkien, the master’s son and literary heir, could have fit the pieces of his father’s unfinished work together with such deep understanding and consummate artistry. With an introduction and appendiCes by Christopher Tolkien, who has also contributed maps and genealogy tables, and eight stunning paintings and twenty-five pencil drawings by Oscar-winning artist Alan Lee, The Children of Húrin at last takes its proper place as the very cornerstone of J.R.R. Tolkien’s immortal achievement. Review: Masterclass - Only Tolkien can create such epic worlds and weave such complex but intriguing narratives. The amount of detail and interlinked characters are mind boggling. All praise to Christopher Tolkien for such wonderful job of editing his fathers works and bringing to us this epic tale. Must read for all fantasy readers and hope to see movie adaptation in the future Review: The story of Turin Turambar - The Black Sword - It's a fantastic book which gives deep insights into the first age. The Children of Hurin along with Beren and Luthien and The Fall of Gondolin let's us know as to how it all started. Christopher Tolkien has done a great job in completing his father's life's work. In fact it's also his life's work too. Saddened by the news of his demise. May his soul RIP. The middle earth will be always indebted to them. ## Features - Del Rey Books ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #549,242 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #319 in Epic Fantasy (Books) #481 in Dragons & Mythical Creatures Fantasy #610 in Fantasy Anthologies | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 5,444 Reviews | ## Images ![CHILDREN OF HURIN (Pre-Lord of the Rings) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91aMZfg3LIL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Masterclass *by R***N on 23 January 2024* Only Tolkien can create such epic worlds and weave such complex but intriguing narratives.
