Norpro 5-Cup Stainless Steel Crank Flour Sifter

fine replacement for my very old one.

Christmas gift for my daughter. She likes it. I've had one many years, love it. Don't need it a lot anymore, but nice to have one on hand, especially if you bake a lot. After I use mine, I turn it over and bang as much lose flour, etc.. out of it, wipe it with a dry cloth and store. Over time, I'm sure it could rust and not sift as well, so this prevents that. As long as only dry "staples" are used, the "screen" stays nice & nice this way.

We returned to this tried-and-true design after buying a more expensive approach that had an impeller that rotated by squeezing a lever built into the handle. But because the impeller was sandwiched between two wire screens, fine cake flour would clog. Sometimes there isn't a better mousetrap! This maker was recommended on an ATK segment.

This shifter works great and well made. A keeper. The last one I got I sent back.

This is a 5 cup sifter, big enough to hold three or four cups. I had a "handle squeeze" sifter before, but that one had a small lip around the bottom that prevented the sifter from emptying completely. I had to turn it upside down and tap the side a couple times to knock loose the rest of whatever I was sifting. There is no such problem with a side crank sifter.

Making anything that needs more than 2 cups of flour? My bundt cake recipe has 3 cups of flour. This sifter makes it so easy - measure the flour, pour each cup into the big sifter, add your baking powder, baking soda, and spices, and sift right into your mixing bowl with the eggs and shortening and sugar mixture.

If you are looking for a sifter, this is a good one. Couldn't find this type of sifter in any of the brick and mortar stores that I went to.

Fell apart after about ten used
