I would have loved to have read a review like I am about ...
I am writing this review not because I have been asked too or because I have something to gain. I would have loved to have read a review like I am about to give so that it would have made my decision a lot easier. When I was considering buying this item, I read all most all of the reviews.First, this frame holder works great for my needs and it is one of my best stitching tools. It may not work for everyone. I think it depends on what type of frame you use. I DO NOT like the Q-Sanp and some of the reviews that were negative were regarding this frame. Also, some of the reviews that were negative were in my opinion, from nit-picky people that don't really understand certain processes. If you look this frame up online, you will see that may sellers are selling it for a lot more money. I took a chance and bought this with the understanding that if some of the negative reviews were right, I could return it.Regarding the smell. When I received mine, there was a little bit of a chemical smell. This would be the varnish they use. I suspect the item is created and put into box, not giving it much time to air out. So what. When you get it, let it air out. The smell will so go away. And if you are sensitive to smells like these, then don't buy it.Regarding the quality. Some folks commented on the different types of wood. The base is made of Oak. Oak is a heavy hard wood. You DO NOT want your frame holder to be all oak because then you would be complaining of the heaviness. The pieces that make up the arm are the perfect light weight wood and it's not a big deal that it doesn't match. I would rather have something that functions properly than matches. My Z Lap Frame was in perfect condition. All the parts were there. In closing, for the money I think this is a great product and will work for most stitcher's. Feel free to pay more with other sellers. You are going to get the same thing though.

very very satisfied with lap frame
I ordered your Z Lap Frame w/clamp some time back right after I had elbow surgery. This is by far the BEST investment of cross stitch supplies that I have ever ordered.I absolutely love it & would never part with it. This is the perfect clamp holder for myQ snap frames. It is great for both smaller & larger projects & frees your hands up for amore comfortable fit.It was very easy to assemble & did not take long at all. I startedstitching right away.I also did a tremendous amount of research on this product(pricing & features available)& found the best price by far on Amazon. I saved around $30.00 compared to other sites. After I ordered this, I saw where there were no more available so I was just as lucky to have foundthis.

Poorly pre-assembled and is rough and splintering
The side piece which holds the arm and which is attached to the base of the stand was attached unevenly to the base. Therefore, it will not sit flat on the table without rocking. Also, my other K's creation stand is smoothly sanded and stained evenly. This stand is rough, has wood splintering off, and is unevenly stained. I am wondering if it is a knock-off as it certainly doesn't meet the standard of my old stand. Next time will purchase in person so I can see what I am buying. Disappointed. Have to figure out how to re-attached the base to the arm so it sits flat and probably will re-sand the edges.

Better as a table stand than a lap stand for me
I really tried to love this stand and it works very well as a table stand. I needed to be able to use it as a lap stand for needlework in my recliner and try as I might I just couldn't get it to work that way without it being very tippy. I could not get my needlework project close enough without the whole stand toppling over. It was made of nice wood, though more care could have been taken in the finishing steps. The wood was a little rough. For the price I would have happily kept it if it worked for me. I ended up returning it and opting for a Lowery Floor Stand and now I'm happy!

Fantastic purchase! My new favorite thing
This needlepoint frame is one of my best purchases. Most everyone at my LNS has these $500 contraptions that they order from the same place. I wanted one, but it would mean spending money that I'd rather allocate to canvases and threads. When I found this one for under $75 I couldn't believe it. It moves in all the right directions and is sturdy, but light on my lap. It makes needlepoint easier and easily flips the canvas over for tucking in threads. Love it!!!

Love it!
I am really loving this Z lap frame. I am working on a large [59,000 stitches] project and it is so relaxing to have my hands free while stitching. If there are any negatives it would be that I could have used a little more detailed instructions on the setting up the frame in the clamp. My material overlaps even my largest Q snap so the picture enclosed showing a bare frame wasn't much help. However, with a little work, and some strong tightening, I was set to go. It works beautifully on regular embroidery hoops.Louise

Unsanded and cracked base.
Wow. Wish there were more pride in quality workmanship. The design of this is very good and is exactly what I wanted and hoped it would be. I like to sit on the couch, legs up, "legs up and cross like a pretzel" and this rests nicely on my legs and allows me to stitch hands free. It holds a wood hoop and my small qsnap easily. However!!! It smells awful, and arrived very rough in multiple places. It also has a significant crack in the base. Definitely not worth the price. Bummed.

to let any one who want to use the q snaps frame just make sure that you take the snap part off before putting into the lapframe
I had this frame years ago and had gone to a floor frame made by the same people about 20myears ago and it just fell apart. So had to get an other frame. I tried to replace my floor frame but they don't makemit any more. So went back to this lap frame. I had given my otherto my son and helikes it to. to let any one who want to use the q snaps frame just make sure that you take the snap part off before putting into the lapframe thanks again for the great service Pat
