My house is relatively humid, I don't know if it can be used to prevent mildew?

As long as the bags remain airtight, I think that humidity shouldn't affect the contents. You might want to keep an eye on the bags for a few days to make sure they don't develop a leak. I used these vacuum storage bags to protect clothes that are stored in a basement. However, I also put the sealed bags of clothes inside of plastic tubs as an added layer of protection. This seems like the best method and lets you store large amounts of stuff compactly in a single tub.
