How long is the shelf life of this product after opening?

I don't have a specific timeframe but mine has lasted over 2 years! As long as you do not mix them together, they keep well. I have mine stored in my outside closet and the temperatures range from freezing to roughly 90 degrees F. After a year and a half, I did some touch-up on a panel and it worked as if the product was brand new!

Does the activator make the clear dry harder or does it just make it dry faster

Clear coat purpose is to be a hard clear shell over your paint to protect it so think of it as more of a paint thinner.For gun use and of corse a thinner coat will dry faster so you can apply the next coat.

speedokote is good quality, i would use it on a motorcycle. i use it on guitars and get a glass like finish, you can sand and buff it
