Good old kit from Tamiya
Here is a good old kit from Tamiya in 1/35 scale of the (then) West German main battle tank Leopard A4. This is one of those kits that I always passed on for whatever reason. Purchased kit recently for do get tired of those modern armored vehicle kits with about a ga-billion pieces, and wanted something "simple" to build for a change.Kit is from 1979 and, surprisingly, there were NO fit problems anywhere!! Hull of kit will have holes in the bottom because Tamiya used to offer a lot of their kits from the 1970s with a little motor that you could put inside. Those holes were for the ON/OFF switch to stick out just a bit. NO little motor in this kit. Tamiya does have some parts with this kit in order to plug up those holes.Track shoes are single piece, good detail on both sides, and holds paint well; 1 full-crew figure; poly-caps for the wheels; 2 instruction sheets (1 in Japanese & 1 in English/German); rear view mirrors; various tools; anti-aircraft machine gun; and even a SNORKEL!! Some small/fragile parts - mainly handles.Instructions easy to follow/read and gives a short history of vehicle in multiple languages. Decals are good and for 3 different vehicles. Paint/decal suggestions.Great little kit for young persons, or others, to start out modeling for parts count is quite low (roughly 180 parts). Can be built in a weekend. Remember that this is plastic model kit and MUST be put together. Paint/glue not included.Ordered via Amazon and shipped from India. Arrived well in advance of promised due date. Shipping container and model box were crushed upon arrival, but there were no problems with any of the kits parts - everything in good order.

good quality basic kit that is well detailed
Typical quality Tamiya kit, simple enough but detailed enough for any modeller over 10 years old. The mouldings are good, little flash and fit well, detailed instructions, realistic tracks (you can buy individual links if that's your thing) they can be made to look better with a bit of paint and weathering. comes with a crew member, the crew hatch can be opened or closed (not glued), turret rotates and the road wheels rotate.

An oldie but goodie
I'm a life long tank nut and build loads of kits. Tamiya's Leopard A4 is exactly the sort of therapy I needed after some epic struggles with recent purchases from other manufacturers. I do like a challenge but was getting heartily sick of things not fitting and excessive flash to clean up on the cheaper kits and ludicrous complexity and needlessly high parts-count with the more expensive ones. The Leopard went together faultlessly in a weekend. Tamiya mouldings are always crisp and clean (no flash) and this is no exception. The instructions are crystal clear, the construction sequence is logical and feasible.....you'd be suprised....and even the rubber-band tracks look the part. Poor tracks let down so many tank models - no need to resort to after market track-link sets here for any one except hardcore rivet-counters.The kit IS thirty four years old now (1979 moulded on the lower hull) and thus not 'state of the art' but it was a breeze to build and looks a hell of lot like the real ones I saw zooming around the arena at Bovington Tank Museum last summer. Just what the doctor ordered. Now, where's that Dragon Models Tiger 1?

Definitely 1:35 scale!
Fairly uncomplicated and yet still a nice model - just like modelling with Tamiya kits has always been. Scales out very well against 1:35 scale plans that I have and use, and with a bit of extra detail work it can be made into a very fine model!
