Seems to read low consistently, about 0.5 to 1 degrees. I've read that is to be expected from an infrared thermometer. Can't they compensate for that factor?

Purchased as a gift for the price it was a good value.

Never goes above 99°. My wife has the flu. This thermometer shows her temp is 98.6. Our other thermometer shows she's at 101. Used both thermometers to measure my temp, both show I'm at 98.6.
