I pulled a few pins with pliers to comply with IDE/PATA weirdness, which worked fine but does require some force (they're not glued or heat-welded in). These are made from cheap feeling plastic, but that's normal for these kinds of connectors. The only problem is that they come partially clipped together (like the image), and mine shipped in a bag, so 2/10 of them were fully clipped together when delivered.
