First of all, it works well. I have a 2022 Tacoma Off Road, and the model that I purchased (12 pin, Type A) was compatible with my year and make. Installation took 20 seconds, and that's not an exaggeration. The adapter is basically just a bridge/extension cable between the vehicle and the mirror, with a USB-C connection point spliced in between. Before this, I had a fuse tapped under the driver's side panel, and I never liked it because the "add a fuse" kit stuck out further than the OEM fuses, which made it impossible to put the cover for the fuse box back on. That bothered me. This thing fixed that problem. Best part is that you dont have to run wires/cables through your trim. If you've ever done that on a hot summer day, you know how miserable it can be. The USB-C extension port has a sticky side that I stuck to the back of my mirror so it isn't visible. All and all, I'd say this adapter is well worth the money, is built very well, and will save you the headache and time of running wires. I'm so happy with this, that I'm considering buying the adapter that supplies power while the vehicle is off.

This Dongar Dash Cam Power Adapter was exactly what I needed to install my dashcam in my 2019 Toyota Tundra without the hassle of hardwiring or using fuse taps. It plugs directly into the back of the rearview mirror, making the whole setup super clean and professional-looking—no dangling wires or exposed connections. The install took under 5 minutes. As long as you Camry has the electrical auto dimming mirror with a direction indicator this will work, it was an optional feature so it will not work on all models by it works fine on my 2012 and 2016 since they both have this type of mirror installed. It is not designed to work with models where the plug is inside a casing (FitDVR is one model that work with those type of mirrors) instead of on the back where to place the box is not as obvious on a Camry. Also only get the if you do not want parking monitoring. This type of mirror is only supplied power when the car is running. If you live and work in a safe area this will work fine for you. I am using mine on a Viofo with the Starvis 2 sensor. It is significant upgrade from the older Sony sensor but that is for a different review, I just felt the need for context of application. Yes, the Camry uses 3 of the 12 pins, this adapter only connect 8 of the 12 but they include the 3 used on their auto dimming mirrors. Unplugging and plugging is easy. The type C connector fits tightly so I doubt it is ever falling out. I was not able to test the other three cable. All are fairly short to avoid a cable bundle behind the mirror.

Item works as stated and was very easy to install. There are two reasons it did not get five stars. The first reason is that the adhesive included on adaptor is very weak and did not last a whole day when stuck to my rearview mirror. The second issue is that while they include three cables with the adaptor the cable are six inches long and do not work well in the adaptor and unit are not almost touching in my case. That being said it is nice not to have to worry about plugging into the 12 volt connection and having to keep up with that cable.

Works as advertised! Very happy with this dongle. I was debating tapping into my overhead cab lights for power and installing a USB-C plug, but then stumbled upon THIS gem! $40 is a bit high, but well worth the time and $ I would have gone through otherwise. 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road.

Grabbed this for my truck and install was really easy. Disconnect the stock power supply and connect with the dongar connector. Nice and low profile. Saves the hassles of running a wire to my fuse box for my dash cam. I have no issues with it overheating and no issues with the dash cam functioning. Dash cam shuts off when the vehicle is shut off and I have not experienced any battery drain. Works as it should with no errors. My auto dimming mirror still fully functional. Bit on the expensive side but to me it was worth it to not have a run of cables and routing it.

I ordered this adapter to use in my Tacoma with a VIOFO A119 V3 dashcam, the USB cable supplied does not fit the dashcam. I contacted Dongar Customer Service and they were very helpful, so just a word of warning if you are using this adapter to power a dashcam with other than a USB-C connection make sure you either get the correct cable. I source a USB-C to USB-A adapter locally so I will be able to use both the Dongar and USB cable that comes with the camera to power up.

I found this product while watching Youtube videos about Tacoma mods. This thing worked like a charm to discretely mount a dash cam behind my rearview mirror on a 2021 Taco. I didn't know it and bought my own but it came with a short USB mini cable as well. Overall this device looks well crafted and did exactly what it needed to do. Zero problems with it after 6 months of use. Guys at work are even starting to buy them for other vehicles after seeing my setup.
