This book have some many great puzzles to solve, and to have a great time and fun with your son and teach them to love mathematics. Also they are going to learn to think outside of the box, and came with impressive answers to the puzzles.

Awesome book

Great book, but the puzzles definitely increase exponentially in difficulty after the first few pages. I have solved a puzzle here and there in the latter chapters, but it's nothing like the first chapter (which was understandably easier than the rest of the book, being a warm-up of sorts). Don't get me wrong - they're not impossible - but this book is definitely not the light-to-medium reading I expected it to be. I've now resigned to use this book only in the bathroom, where I keep it to attack random problems when I am most focused while relaxing on my "throne." One final positive point: I like that certain puzzles are just background information and/or historical pieces from around the time this book was originally published in the USSR. The illustrations are pretty adorable too and remind me of simpler times.

Gift for grandchild who loves mathematics puzzles!

A good gift for any math lover. Although I personally didn't understand much when I looked through it, the person I got it for thought it was awesome.

Really hard puzzles. There are a lot of puzzles inside this book which is a plus for this book but I thought the puzzles were hard for a typical person. Perhaps if you like to think a lot or like challenging puzzles this would be a great book for you but I was looking more for a book that would be relaxing to do. Not too easy and not too hard- something to do while watching television and this book did not fit the bill.

I picked up The Moscow Puzzles because I wanted something a bit more stimulating than the typical puzzle books you usually find, and this one definitely delivers. The problems are clever, varied, and often trickier than they first appear. What I enjoy most is how different the puzzles feel — they’re less about memorizing formulas and more about thinking creatively and seeing patterns in a new way. It’s the kind of book you can open for just a few minutes and suddenly find yourself absorbed for an hour. De nombreux "puzzles" en version anglaise sur de nombreux sujets ; très intéressant. Permet de chercher dans le domaine de la logique ; des maths sans que se soit inaccessible .

Muy divertidos! Los primeros son muy fáciles pero luego se van complicando. Son matemáticas disfrazadas, de manera que siempre se ve el problema en un contexto físico/real.

I first purchased this book as a Pelican edition when I was teaching mathematics in high schools. It contains a lot of puzzles which are suitable for dishing out to pupils as a homework or as a time filler for the faster workers. The current version on offer here is like one of the cheaper American reprint house versions - the typography and illustrations appear to be inferior to the version that I originally had. I repurchased the book for personal entertainment and its entertainment value is just as great now as it was when I first purchased a copy over twenty years ago. I still give out the occasional puzzle to members of my tutor group and they are usually well received. The current book is a bargain. I'm sure that I paid something close to the current price for my original copy. Puzzles range from number based ones e.g. Use the nine digits 1-9 and plus and minus signs to make a total of 100 through geometric puzzles i.e dividing shapes into equal amount using the minimum number of cuts through to logic based ones that appear to need some complex maths but can be solved by using common sense and simple arithmetic. It's not a book that will convert that maths averse but will draw in those whose interest can be kindled by the repackaging of maths into a puzzle format. There's something for everyone in this book.
