Silky around the elastic so it was comfortable and probably came down to about 2 inches above the knee. Now my daughter's legs are long, she is about 4 1/2 feet tall and thin. This tutu fit great. The even better news, my 8 year old who is a little bigger around the middle also fit in it. We bought her one in white for her olympic day. Much to my surprise it's been about 6 months and they are still around.
