## Overview

The 60-Inch UV Resistant Solar Pool Heater by Solar Sun Rings uses a patented dual-layer vinyl design and magnetic rafting system to naturally heat pools and spas while reducing evaporation and chemical loss. Lightweight and safety-focused, these rings provide seamless solar coverage and thermal insulation, making them a trusted choice for above ground and inground pools.

## Description

Solar Sun Rings are the original solar pool heating rings — and still the best. Each 60-inch Sunburst ring captures the sun's energy through a dual-layer UV-resistant vinyl design: the transparent top layer focuses sunlight while the lower layer converts it directly into heat, warming your pool naturally all day long. At night, the rings lock in that heat like a thermal blanket, slashing evaporation and cutting chemical loss. The patented magnetic rafting system lets rings snap together edge-to-edge for seamless, uniform coverage across any pool size. A redesigned inner grid with drainage grommets keeps the rings clean and easy to remove, and the durable construction is compatible with automatic pool cleaners. Trusted and recommended by pool professionals

Review: These really do work - While initially skeptical about these, I gotta say: they work great. They maintain the pool temperature incredibly well. Only "con" is that you do need think about storage while you are in the pool. They cannot lay on the lawn or stack on one another. This is my first year with them, I'll be interested to see how many seasons they last.
Review: Update - save your money - Still too soon to tell if they work or not as we are still in the 90s here. But one thing for sure, they definitely reduce the effectiveness of the skimmer and make maintaining a clean pool overall more difficult. When we determine if they helped to hold temperature stars may go up. Jury ia still out on that. UPDATE*** one sprung a leak within a day. Seller replaced it straightaway so good on them. Within about 6 weeks a second sprung a leak. They can be patched and the supplied patches DO work. Above I mentioned that they complicate cleaning. This is for sure. They very much reduce the effectiveness of the skimmer and overall make maintenance more difficult. Now the big question: Do they work? Sadly I don’t believe so. Despite putting them in in late August when we are still in the low to mid 90s air temps & the pool as in the middle 80’s, as soon as the shorter day and cooler weather crept around in early October, the pool did drop to the mid 70s. It DID hold there for a while. But the first cool nights we got, the pool dropped to the mid and then low 60s with just two cool nights (temps in the 50s). Perhaps they got us an extra week or two of swimming. Perhaps not. The water became too cool to swim comfortably this year with these devices as last year without. As the leaves are beginning to fall here in earnest from our trees that DO drop leaves in South Louisiana (which is no all of them) our pool technician informed us that they will HAVE to come out in order to maintain the pool. I agree. They just get too much in the way during the leaf drop season. What did they do? I do believe they helped significantly with evaporation. That normally isnt an issue here as out tropical to sub tropical climate gives us 70-80 inches of rain a year, but this year we are in an extremely unusual (for us) drought so I do know that the slowed evaporation and kept us from having to refill as often. Ultimately I really WANTED these to work. The “common sense” and skeptical side of my brain said they wouldn’t. The scientific side said they might, and of course the reviews here (many of them) said the definitely did. Perhaps an extra week of swimming? Question is, is that worth almost $400-500 and the maintenance headaches they caused? We have them in storage now and plan to re deploy them in the spring hoping that hey may warm the pool a few weeks earlier! Since we have them, why not try. But I dont think I would buy them again or replace them when they wear out.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this product have anchors?**
A: No, They attach to each other with magnets that are space about 2 feet apart around the circumference. I anchor mine with a nylon rope to a chair near the edge of one end of my pool to keep them from the skimmer. They are very effective keeping my pool near 80 during the summer, I did not have to use any heat all season last year. Downside is they do collect dirt falling from the sky which may not be a problem depending. I live in the San Joaquin Valley and since it is farming territory the air is always filled with dirt.

**Q: Is this the model with or without the water anchor?**
A: Without

**Q: How many5 foot solar rings would i need for above ground pool 18x 32?**
A: You will need (18) to mostly cover the pool. They didn’t work for me in Florida. Two of them lost air after running on concrete coping edge.
I put screens over my Florida pool to keep it cool and it worked.

**Q: How effective are they about making the warm?**
A: I teach swimming lessons in my backyard pool. One end of my pool is 10 to 12 feet deep so it takes a while for my pool to warm up in time for Swimming Lessons. I’ll put the solar rings on in April and start my Swimming Lessons June 1. The water is still chilly but not as bad as it would be If I did not do this. There is no way I would be able to teach beginner students beginning June 1 Without the solar rays. I live in North Texas and I continue to use the solar rings until the middle of June.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keep expectations realistic
*by N***O on June 30, 2026*

These work so long as expectations are realistic. I'm in my 4th season using these rings and they do the 2 things I purchased them for: 1) reduce evaporation, and 2) retain a good amount of heat at night. They are significantly easier than wrestling with the blankets. If anyone purchases them for the sole intent of heating a pool, then you will be disappointed any likely quite angry as evident in reading many of the 1 star reviews. Are they overpriced, yes. But any product made exclusively for pools are way overpriced. I was just away for a little over 2 weeks. To ensure I didn't loose any if we got storms/high winds I put a leaf net cover over the pool and had the pump on a timer. Got home to clean water with little evaporative loss and the chemistry was good having treated and tweaked it before leaving and tossed in 2 chlorine floaters in. I know 4 stars is a bit of a stretch given price and somewhat cheap construction, but they do accomplish what I want out of them. Plus, most importantly is that my wife doesn't have to endure listening to me yelling obscenities while wrestling with a solar blanket 😳
