Works and was simple to install...Not for Windows 7
I was looking for a print server for our Brother DCP 7020 multifunction printer. Previously we had our printer hooked to an old desktop on the Network that wasn't getting much use anymore and wanted to cut down on the power consumption. This device does that just perfectly. It is only using 1Watt according to my Kill-A-Watt meter where the desktop was using 50 watts just idle.Installation was a breeze. Pop in the CD and click through the steps then insert the driver CD for the printer and it was working like a charm. Did not work on the one machine we have Windows 7 64bit. Not a complete surprise as that is not an OS that is listed as compatible.I have not tested the multifunctionality support of this device yet but the printing is just fine. Contrary to the instruction manual you do not have to restrict use to one user at a time. Once connected via the software and then disconnected, printing still is completely functional and no one computer is tying up the print server. The manual says that you have to connect to the print server in order to print and that only one user can be connected at a time.As for the computer running Windows 7 I am still able to print but only by sharing the printer via another computer. While that is the same as our old setup we are still able to remove the one idling machine from our network. For the money this was our best option given the constraints of how things are setup.Would buy again. Once the scanning feature is tested I'll report on that.Update: Scanning worked fine with the print server.

Not compatible with Windows 7 or Vista SP 1
I can't knock this too much because the install was pretty easy and it did recognize my Canon Pixma 780. However, Windows 7 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 require driver signing to ensure driver compatibility and the Print Server Utility that comes with the print server has not been updated since 2008. So even though the utility installed, I received several warnings during installation from Windows that the drivers were not signed. Then afterwards, I tried to connect to the printer using the utility and could not. I contacted Trendnet support and was told "Windows 7 is not currently supported. TRENDnet is currently verifying operating system compatibility for this product.". If you are running vista and use Windows Update you are most likely running SP 1 and you will not be able to use this either. If you want to check to see if Trendnet has updated anything since, you should check the downloads link for the product page on the Trendnet site.

"Technically" works but not in any simple & easy way you would hope
I kinda knew this going in and buying, but this will only work on Windows XP. I was hoping I could still extrapolate a network address or host or ip web service to no avail. I was able to get it working through a virtual machine running XP and even was successful in "sharing" it to the other computers that were Windows 7, but that didn't end up being a permanent solution. Another thing I tried is running the native software in "compatibility" mode. It doesn't bode well that it REQUIRES native software and drivers to work specifically (specific to XP as it seems...). Also, what's pretty frustrating, is that it doesn't really tell you why it doesn't work. You see it go through all of the regular loading and processing, it just doesn't connect/display.So..."technically" it does work, but not in any simple & easy way you would hope... You might have better luck, and I can confirm it does work and print with my HP LaserJet P1006 "host-based" required printer, just I suggest no expectation that it can seamlessly successfully work.

Good Product Needs 64 Bit Support
The product was very easy to install and I was able to print within 15 minutes. Setup was intuitive; however, lack of support for Windows 7 64 Bit systems. If you have a newer computer that is 64 Bit, forget using this product, as it will not load or work. I have several computers connected which are not 64 Bit running Windows 7. While some reviews indicated that it would not work with Windows 7 this is only half true, only the 64 Bit Windows 7 is an issue. When installing for the 32 Bit Windows 7 just accept the unverified or unsigned driver warning and it will load and run no problem.

Great Device For Windows XP (SP3) and Windows Vista (SP2)
This device is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista (32 bit). I installed it on my older HP computer running Windows XP (SP3) as well as my Toshiba Laptop running Windows Vista (SP2). I used the device for wireless printing to an HP Photosmart C4480 All In One (Printer, Scanner, Copier) and all functions work properly for both computers. As to the date of this review, the device is not compatible with Windows 7. Customer Service notified me via email informing me that they are working on an updated driver for this device. My inquiry was answered quickly and respectfully. TRENDnet Customer Service is great (5 stars deserved if this category was available). The device was easy to install and functions as expected for the supported operating systems noted in the specifications on their website, "Supported OS Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista (32-Bit)." It also has a 3 year warranty; this company really stands behind their products. It is advisable to go to the manufacturer's web page to research the product before purchasing it to ensure that it is compatible with your operating system: [...]
