Thorlos Men's Lth Thick Padded Crew Hiking Socks Hiking Socks (pack of 1)

After noticing that Amazon had these Thorlo socks on their add-on promo with a very keen price I decided to take a chance and order, for a very long time I have worn only Bridgedale hiking socks for long walks as they are the best on the market for this purpose in my opinion, the only downside being price. Mens Brigdedale hiking socks start at around £12 per pair and continue to rise in price dependent on what level of heat control and foot protection you require for the walks you do.So, how do these Thorlo light hiking socks compare? Well, first impressions are good. The fit is absolutely perfect for my UK size 11 feet and comes up the leg to the perfect height for when wearing high leg, hiking boots. The sock also feels thick and has a good amount of protective material at key areas on the sole of the foot.Another positive which is frequently over-looked by other hiking sock manufacturers is thermal protection that completely surrounds the foot. IE: some makers of this sock type will only put extra padding/material on the sole and not over the top of the foot, leaving this area vulnerable to cold or blisters. Obviously, if you only do light trail in warm/dry conditions then this isn't a huge problem, but it's certainly worth pointing out that these socks have full protection.Lastly, the walk test. Well, I've only managed a couple of 6-8 mile treks in the short time I've had them, but I've not suffered any blisters and even with the autumn temps dropping fast my feet felt warm and cosy.So, would I recommended these Thorlo men's light hiking crew socks? Yes, 100%. Especially at the current low add-on price. Would I say they are Bridgedale quality? Not quite, but close. Then again, they are currently around a third of the price of a similar Bridgedale sock.So if you are looking at this type of sock, then whilst Amazon's price is so keen I say go for it! I will even add that commonly used bargain alert; "Fill ya boots"! *wink*

I've used Thorlo mountaineering socks for years and found them to be best of all the brands I've tried but sadly, my local supplier closed. I wanted something lighter to use with my lightweight summer boots, again I've tried all the brands from the usual big name outdoor stockists but never found anything as good so searched the net for Thorlo in desperation. Delighted with these, light and supremely comfortable with extra cushioning on the pressure points and do not scrunch up under the ball of the foot like many brands. Great service from Castleberg and good to get them from a small independent stockist too. I like the socks so much I bought another pair directly from Castleberg

I randomly picked up a pair at Go Outdoors months back and was so impressed with the warmth and cushioning that I decided to order another pair! Amazon offers a far greater choice of colours and fit so it was a no brainer.The socks are awesome for long walks in the lakes etc. If you need a good pair of hiking socks that will help with foot pain or if you suffer from blisters these are the beasties for you. I doubt anyone could ever complain about them.

Early days so I don't know how well they will last, or if my feet prefer the synthetic material to wool. But they appear well made, they are comfortable, it's winter and they are keeping my feet at a moderate temperature and not sweaty. Cushioning is good. As with all such socks I've tried they are aggressively elasticated to the point of leaving marks when you take them off. This seems to be a trait common to a lot of clothing these days. They were £13 for a single pair so I'm deducting a star for the price, as that's pretty expensive in my book.

Been buying these for years as they do sizes. The ankles are not too tight and the sock fits the foot properly. Last much longer than normal socks so worth the extra pennies. Thank you.

I've been buying Thorlos Light Hiking Socks for many years and having tried lots of other brands and materials, nothing matches these in my opinion. They're my default go-to everyday sock, lightly cushioned, warm but not clammy, very durable, indestructible in the washer/dryer and don't slide down my ankle/foot. Yes they do cost a few more £'s than many socks but in the long run they will work of better value simply because they last so long. My favourite socks.

I have hammer toes and this has caused the fat pad on the ball of foot to move, so I have been walking on the bones which is very uncomfortable. The Thorlos socks are well padded and I am able to walk with no discomfort, I repeat excellent socks.

I've been wearing Thorlo socks for about 15 years. My first pair lasted about 10 years. I wear these socks for long distance walking and they're the best I've tried. You don't need a thin inner sock as these are multi layered.Its tough to get good socks (most outdoors shops have their own brand which are inferior to these), but these are the best.It hurts to pay so much for a pair of socks, but they are really good value as they will be the ones that you always reach for first for many years.

While somewhat expensive they are the best socks and last a very long time.
