Review: Awesome! - I bought this as a gift for a friend. It was smaller than I thought it would be and is paperback but once I read the contents I didn't care. The ideas in this book are brilliant! It has ideas for snacks, parties, even having your own sorting hat ceremony. There are even ideas for having your own classes such as Potions and Herbology! Review: This is a GREAT book! - I really like this book! It has a great set up. Each craft section has the difficulty level, cost, and time involved. The recipes are organized well and easy to follow, the directions to the games and classes are clear. It is written in a fun way. It's obvious that the author knows the Harry Potter series well and enjoys it. Fun book! Glad I bought it.

some incorrect facts in games but otherwise amazing
there were some facts that were incorrect like you use riddikulus on boggarts but they use it on dementors for a quick helpful tip for quidditch you need 7 players on each team a keeper 2beaters 3 chasers and a seeker and so if you want to play house games then u would need at least 7 students in each house there would have to be 28 party guests just so u could play quidditch but when you do you'll have no regrets this is a great book and is great Will use in future

Good Ideas
Purchased this book to help me get ideas for my daughter's birthday party. Good ideas, but vague on details for the making of the crafts. Like size of dowel for wand, amount of Sculpey needed... Also another craft - "1 bottle of glue per person" ok, but what size? Glue comes in various bottle sizes...it hasn't been very helpful in that respect in terms of planning/purchasing for more than 1 person.

It may be unofficial but the recipes and explanations are fabulous. Each recipe includes reference to what book it was found in. I especially liked that she included the hard recipe but then gave you an easier recipe so you could make the foods with the kids. Great book!

Must have!
I bought this book to throw a Harry Potter birthday party for my son. I was drooling over the fact of all the things I could do on a budget. My Harry Potter fan friends also loved the book and steal it from me when they are planning parties. If you love the books then I highly suggest you get this one for all your party planning.

Poor Craft Book, Better Crafts Online for Free
After seeing the reviews I excitedly bought this book. The games in the back are cute, and some basic recipe ideas are presented such as dipping licorice in chocolate to make chocolate wands (nothing special). While the variety of ideas in this book are appealing, the crafting is very poor. It is obvious the author is not adept at this. It is too adult for kids (hot glue guns) but not exciting enough for adults. It's like we're caught in the middle. If you have worked with polymer clay, picture how you can make every project. For example extendable ears: You sculpt a polymer clay ear, and poke a hole through it, then tie on a string. I could have done this without a book, and to boot the ear shown isn't very good. Beyond using aquarium gems in various projects like glass vases for house points (which isn't exciting at all) the only variety is the addition of fur to the monster book of monsters (which is the best one and not enough to redeem the book) and the sorting hat which is made out of a brown paper bag, and doesn't look good. I've seen way better ideas in Halloween magazine for a few dollars. There aren't many photos of how to, but with a cheap book that is to be expected. Frankly the projects are so simple anyone who has sculpted with play dough could come up with the idea. They just aren't unique or exciting at all (and let's face it, Harry Potter crafts should be). A Remembrall is a rubber sparkle ball with polymer clay wrapped around it to create a band. I know with craft books every craft won't be a winner, but this one is nothing to sing about. Not worth buying, there are better crafts online for Harry Potter fans.

Pintrest, here I come!
While this isn't a bad book, it isn't a very good book either! I would have preferred to give it two and a half stars instead of three, but it's better than two stars. There aren't very many recipes and several are basically the same, but with different sodas used so for me there are actually fewer recipes if you think they could have combined the recipes and suggested different options for different drinks. Besides, I haven't a clue where to find the edible glitter the author suggests for quite a few of the recipes. Some of the recipes sound on the ewww side for me, I love chocolate but the idea of putting some on licorice sounds pretty gross to me for example! As for the crafts, maybe younger children will find them fun to make, our teen son, who loves Harry Potter, didn't find them interesting at all. About the only craft any of us were vaguely interested in making was the monster book, which I had already thought of making myself after watching the movie it appears in. Personally, I would suggest looking for ideas on Pintrest prior to purchasing this book. It just isn't worth the price in my opinion! Maybe the Kindle version, but definitely not the cost of the print version. Now, if the author wants to go back and add a few more better recipes and maybe a couple better quality crafts, I might consider the price worth it, but not as the book is.
