Workbook for Aphasia: Exercises for the Development of Higher Level Language Functioning (William Beaumont)

Binder is junk but content is great.
The content is good and the directions are easy to follow. I bought this for my father so that he can continue speech therapy at home after a massive stroke. This looks easy to follow and I think that my mother will be able to work with him every day by giving him a couple of pages to do. Unfortunately, they are in another state so I will have to follow his progress at a distance and will update this review when they give me some feedback. I think that this will prove to be a useful tool to help him maximize his progress. The binder is a great idea, but mine had a ring that didn't quite close so the pages caught every time I tried to turn them. Also, the inside front cover is already split almost the entire way down the seem. I will have to see if Amazon can help me out with a replacement but since I had a large binder on hand, I just moved the content into that one for now.Update: Amazon has replaced the defective product, no problem. I did notice that the replacement was shrink wrapped but the first one wasn't. If you buy this, just take a minute to check it over and make sure it is in good condition.

Great Workbook for Aphasia
My husband suffered a stroke on October 1st and initially received speech therapy, however upon returning to our small city we found there were no speech therapists available within a 200 mile radius. We ordered the Workbook for Aphasia and were delighted with the quantity and quality of the exercises in the book. The Workbook for Aphasia: Exercises for Expressive And Receptive Language Functioning (William Beaumont Hospital has been a tremendous help to my husband and he can now carry on a normal conversation with very little problem finding words. The exercises in this book are of equal or greater quality than those of a professional speech therapist.

good
Bought this for my grandmother who has Aphasia from a traumatic brain injury. Some of the activities were too hard for her but most of them were great. She was wiling to work in this work book and has really regained alot of what she had lost. I recommend this book for anyone doing additional at home word practice. This book is well worth the price.

Be Your Own Speech Therapist with This Book
Around my little Texas town, speech therapists are scarce as hen's teeth. But my mother is recovering from a massive stroke, and she needed the speech therapy we couldn't find for months.Workbook for Aphasia was and is my solution. We've used it for almost two months, and her progress has been better with this workbook than with the speech therapist we finally found. In fact, the workbook is so comprehensive that the therapist uses it in addition to her own materials. What would I improve? Very little, except to include more intermediate materials. It seems to go very quickly from easy to very sophisticated, but we need more exercises in the middle or not-quite-so-easy range.I'm glad we had this book available for the two months when we had no speech therapist to help. It's been effective!

aphasia workbook
I bought this book after my husband suffered a stroke and had aphasia which I had never ever heard that word. It helped us to overcome a lot of problems. I think it is a very good exercise book for someone in that condition and if you really work hard in it, you would see benefits. At least I would hope the best for anyone under these circumstances. It was a needed item at the time and proved most useful.

For the untrained speech therapist
This book was recomended for me to use when I worked with my husband after his speech therapy was stopped. I love it and copy the pages as we go along so he can write his answers down. The chapters are set up t o work on certain problems people with aphasia have and I find this helps me know what I am doing. I use sheets from each chapter so we cover all our problem areas. GREAT BOOK.

great tool for therapy or carryover into the home
I am a practicing clinician in graduate school and I have used this with my aphasic client throughout the semester. The workbook is sectioned off by subcategory (i.e. concrete reasoning, abstract reasoning, following directions, etc.) and is extremely useful.

Arrived quickly
This was bought for my mother to use after her stroke, but she decided that she was not going to cooperate, so it is difficult to give it any kind of rating.
