Will & Grace: The Complete Series [DVD]

As many of the other reviewers have stated, there is a problem with this box set. I don't know if I was luckier than some: I bought these back in 2008, and I have seen through all of the episode. I only had issues with a single episode on the second disc of every season, and when I made a copy of the disc, the issue disappeared. This is obviously not a sustainable solution, especially for those who seem to be unable to play a single disc, but to me it was acceptable. (Unfortunately, when I approached Amazon about the issue, it had been too long for warranty or returns to be available.)BUT the episodes were as great as I remembered them, and this box set contains a disc of bonus materials not previously released.2018 update: I have since bought a new DVD/BR player, in which I have issues with more discs than before.

The first disc was scratched and made it difficult to load. We have to try it at least three times before it works.

I bought this gift for my lovely girlfriend for her birthday, and never seeing the show beforehand, i feel in love with it in a short period of time. As mentioned before, I can't say with complete confidence from which disc it was from, but the last episode was missing, and just didn't play. But that is the only problem she has had so far with the product. But Overall, really well done. Nice booklet inside with info, it was a great gift for that special person who absolutely loves Will & Grace

I have nothing really negative ot say about this series box set! I thought there may be more cast interviews on the special bonus disc but there is Eric McCormack talking about his favorite episode and you can play it with the commentary as well as Debra Messing's favorite episode, nothing with Megan Mullally or Sean Hayes though. The box set itself is magnetic and really good quality. Overall It's ideal to have for a Will & Grace fan!

This is one my favorite series' of all time and I was thrilled to see it below the $80.00 range. As badly as I wanted this set, I went ahead and purchased without reading the reviews. Shortly after receiving the set, I put it in and started watching. As the disc loaded, it made this weird squeal/grinding sound for a few minutes before finally loading straight into the first episode. After the first episode ended it went right back to the screen as when the player was first turned on. Pressing play a second time, it repeated the actions it did when the disc was first inserted and after pressing menu, the main menu loaded and the rest of the episodes were there. After watching each episode, I had to press menu again before the credits ended to be able to view the remaining episodes. When it got the the final episode on disc 1, Boo! Humbug, halfway through the episode it froze during the scene with Harlin in Will's office and eventually worked out. When it got to the scene where Jack and Karen arrived at Will's apartment in costumes before heading to the downtown parade, as Grace was going to the door to let them in it froze again and couldn't get past it. I took the disc out several times and cleaned it but nothing worked.I took the disc out and decided to try a disc from another season, I went to season 2 and put in the first disc, it loaded without the noise the previous disc made and went into the main menu. The first disc played fine so I loaded in another and when I got to the episode, To Serve and Disinfect, the freezing started during the scene where Will takes part in Jack's cater waiter business and couldn't work out of it. After trying a few more episodes and the same result, I tried another player and ended up with the same result as with the other player. I eventually gave up and decided to send it back for a refund.

We both love this show and really want to have the whole series, BUT save yourself a LOT of trouble and don't buy this set. Here's our story:Purchased (through Amazon) when the price dropped to the $80 to 90 mark. Received quickly (Amazon is the best for that), watched the first disk, played ok. Tried for the second disk - would only play about half way through, then locks up, jump around, frozen picture. Tried in several DVD players.Return - Amazon usually won't take back open items, but since this is defective they replace no problem. When filling out the return I notice SEVERAL YEARS of people complaining that this set doesn't play! Check competitors sites, SAME THING! This is not a good sign. I call Amazon, rep is nice, says they will suspend sales of item for review. Sure enough, the page has a "temporarily not available, under review for defects" or something similar. After 7 days, banner goes away, they call to say they return all stock and got a new shipment, they are sending us one. Sounds good!Return AGAIN -The second replacement comes - SAME ISSUES!!!! Return for refund, not going to go through that again. Tell Amazon again about the trouble. Item goes 'under review' again, then back on sale - what did they review? Always loved Amazon but now I feel that they are knowingly selling a defective product.2 shipments, 3 different sets, all are unplayable. The DVDs are defective from the manufacturer - on close inspection it even looks like the layers inside are separating (a watery, wavy look on the shiny side).No response at all from Lionsgate (I emailed them)- let's just say they suck at customer service.Your choices are to by the individual seasons (and pay over $200, no thanks) or do without - this set will just piss you off when half the episodes can't be played.

I received a different DVD, a Jackie Chan movie.

これをcomplete seriesと呼ぶなんて恥ずかしい！！字幕もseason1にしかついていませんし、season1はまともに再生できません。cutされている部分の多すぎること！！本国アメリカでもfanの怒りようは半端じゃないです。商品の評価として星１です。いつか“complete series”がちゃんとでるなら買いなおします。

This comedy is bound to be classified as one of the most daring sitcoms to broadcast on a major national network during the horrid era of George W. Bush.The storylines flow and play out stronger once you view them without commercial interruption. All characters are solid and well defined while the topics covered perfectly represent the era of the early and mid 2000s.The presentation of this box set is simple and small yet convenient for home storage when compared to the Seinfeld or Friends box-sets.Is it worth purchasing?Yes - although one can still view episodes being aired daily on specialty networks, as is the case with Friends, one cannot truly appreciate the arch of this emmy award wining series until having viewed each season in the proper order (as one would with a film). Yes, you'll come to realize this series had a constant & on-going storyline that endured through its 8 years on NBC.You should really view each episode back to back to truly enjoy the comedic genius of this timeless series.The best reason for purchasing the complete series is: You will end up laughing all over again!

The DVDs come in a really nice box, and each season is separated into a booklet that won't have you dropping DVDs on the floor whenever you open one. The quality of the recordings is excellent as well - doesn't seem like an illegal burned set, so I'm going to say they are legitimate. I had some compatibility/reading issues with one of my combination DVD/BluRay players, but they worked just fine in the other older dedicated DVD player. In the BluRay/DVD it wouldn't read and I had to unplug the player to reset it and remove the DVD. Still not sure why this was happening.

I love the show itself, but every single one of the discs had a scratch on it!! So you can't even watch all the episodes on the disc!
