Perfect Compliment to an iPad or a Laptop PC
I bought the GLO to primarily support my non-cellular iPad Air. Regardless of what type of iPad you have, however, the GLO will substantially improve the accuracy of your position reports. The GLO is much smaller than it looks in the pictures (about the size of my iPhone), and works perfectly on the dash of a car or our flying club airplanes. Coupled with either Garmin's Pilot app or Garmin's Streetpilot app, the GLO gives position reports that are accurate enough for precision approaches as well as taxiing around on airports. The 6 months of free subscription for the premium IFR data package on the Garmin Pilot app made the choice of the GLO versus the competitors an easy one for me. And yes, I know Foreflight is all the rage these days, but I've tried both Foreflight and Garmin Pilot and just think the Garmin Pilot app is much better, more intuitive and easier to use in the cockpit. It also has vector charts (instead of just scanned Sectionals and Low Enroute Charts), which makes the charts way easier to read when zoomed out. Anyway, regardless of what app you choose, the GLO is definitely the way to go for precision position reports on your iPad or Laptop PC.

Just got done using it again on a helicopter flight
It works great, especially when testing with a street map where I can know exactly where I am. It tracks almost perfectly with my current location and very smooth.I love that it came with a 6 month free trial for Garmin Pilot (don't know how long this will be offered). That alone is worth $32.50 ($75 for a one year subscription to Garmin Pilot - and Garmin Pilot by the way is pretty incredible! You can see some my flights on TomsHeliStuff on youtube)I've used and still own other Garmin products, and they seem highly reliable. Very good stuff. One problem I did run into today was I left the GPS turned on and in the helicopter while getting lunch. When I came back out, it was off and would not turn on. However, I noticed it was very hot because it was sitting inside and in the sun. I took the battery out, waited till it cooled off along with the whole device. Put the battery back in and it worked fine on the return flight.Another cool thing about this is the rubber mat it mounts in that you can put on the console or any flat surface. It sticks almost like a suction cup. I've had no problems with it moving during flight.I've been very happy with how it's working

Accurate and Reliable
I used the Garmin Glo recently on two 8-hour repositioning flights. The unit quickly found the sat constellations and remained connected for the entire 8-hour flight in both directions (i did power the unit off during the mid trip fuel stop). The unit worked well with both the Garmin Pilot and Jeppesen applications. A windshield heat plate is on the left windshield so I placed the holder on the right side panel "eyebrow" without any issues. Although it is winter, there is some pretty serious greenhouse effect with large windshields and the unit suffered no heat issues.I had initial buyer's concerns due to the earlier reports of the unit "turning itself on" in the flight bag; I'm happy to report that the software update by Garmin has solved the issue by building in about a two second "buffer" for the on/off switch. I have had no issues with the Garmin Glow powering on un-commanded in either my flight bag or backpack. The update is done through the internet.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend and actually have demo'd it for a few.

Works Flawlessly
The very first day I used this GPS I flew 7.5 hours through multiple countries in a turboprop and it worked flawlessly driving both an iPad 2 and a mini iPad. Pairing to the iPads was not an issue and I used multiple flying apps all of which ran fine. The mounting mat does an amazingly good job of gripping to almost any surface and I think some of the fuss other reviewers made about the switch is overstated. Also, I did not experience any of the over heat issues mentioned by others even though it was in direct sunlight all day. I do agree that Garmin should come up with an app that allows you to see what both the GPS status and battery condition are. Other than that, this is a great little GPS with a extremely long battery life at a very good price.
