Works well.
When I received this soldering iron tip tinner, I was a bit surprised at how solid it's consistency appeared compared with the leaded tip tinners I have used in the past. Once you get used to it's properties, you will find that rolling the hot iron tip in this tinner works best. With the old tinners, I would push the iron into the vat to tin the tip.It did an excellent job at tinning the iron's tip. The tinning seems rather durable as well. This has meant that I don't have to tin quite as often. The subtraction of 1 star is due to the fact that this stuff smells strongly of ammonia when the hot tip hits it. I know that is to be expected to some degree with this and similar formulations, but it was even stronger than I thought it would be. I guess I'd rather breath a little ammonia though than lead vapors. I suggest, as is always the case, that you use sufficient ventilation. The product works as intended though so I am happy with the purchase.

Works instantly!
Excellent product!! Carbon build-up on the iron tip is a pain in the butt, and it makes quality soldering damn near impossible. This product works immediately to restore the functionality of your soldering iron, and will save you from having to replace the tip. Just heat the iron up as normal, and clean the tip before dipping into the R&R lotion. One quick application will tin the tip, and have you back on the job in a jiffy! I would recommend and purchase again!

It works well and I use it whenever I'm done using my iron so it will be in good shape the next time I want to use it
This is a tin of dry powder (for those of you expecting something else) that you poke your hot iron into when you want to tin it. I can only assume that it is, in fact, lead free. I hope it is, anyways. There is a little self adhesive pad on the bottom that could come in handy, but I've elected not to use it. I have not had trouble getting the lid off, but you have to firmly grasp the bottom of the tin with one hand and the lid with the other and rotate while trying to keep both bottom half and lid parallel to each other as you twist. Easier done than said, actually. It works well and I use it whenever I'm done using my iron so it will be in good shape the next time I want to use it.

Works perfectly!
As a soldering beginner, this stuff is absolutely worth every penny. Once your iron is up to temperature, just dry-clean with a brass wire sponge, then roll the tip around in this stuff, and dip the iron back into the brass to remove any excess....Now your tip is nicely tinned and ready to go!

Excellent tinner & a great value
First off .. if you've never used "tip tinner" before, do yourself a huge favor and get some .. it's fantastic for quickly removing the crud & oxidation from your soldering iron tip.Secondly, note the size of this particular product .. It's 1.5oz, which makes it 2 to 3 times the volume of the competitors tinner products (most are .8oz and some are less .. they are tiny). This is great value compared to others.Highly recommended.

Great for easy tip maintence
Makes re-tinning the iron easy as you don't have to use your rosin-core solder and have the rosin eat the tip. Solder, clean, use this product, set into holder. When you want to solder again, just clean, add fresh solder, and work. Almost no smell at all and I do not find the odor that is does produce to be very offensive. The product is very small and is filled to the top with the solid. Should still last a while though as you use very little of it every time you tin.

Good stuff!
Awesome stuff, will greatly simplify soldering for you, just dip the hot tip & it comes out nicely tinned, if not then it may be time for you to replace the tip, as I DID notice that when my tip got rather beaten up this product no longer worked as well, my fault the product itself is great!
