The stoneware mugs are nicely sized and a nice match in terms of color. The whole ensemble is smart enough for company, but durable enough for daily use.Perhaps more importantly, the light weight and low profile makes these dishes much easier to handle and store than our previous selection. I can fit literally twice as many of these in our kitchen. We don't have much cabinet space, so we use wire shelves to allow us to store more stuff; Corelle's light weight means that these play much more nicely with the wire shelves than our heavier stoneware plates did.Most importantly, the pieces do their jobs perfectly well. The bowls are precisely the right size for a can of chunky-style soup; the dinner plates hold adult-size portions but aren't so large that you're tempted to over-fill them. I bought a set of these on amazon in December 2009. We had to move in 2012 and every single piece lasted with no chips, cracks or breaks and was donated to another family. When my wife and I settled down last month we ordered another two sets. It had quite a long journey across the US and then onto a boat to get to where we are now. Every single piece was intact. It is incredibly well packed and shipped.As for the dinnerware itself, it's a whole new level of appreciation when you've had to use other heavier stoneware and load dishwashers as the ceramic unfinished bottoms scrape against the glaze. We are so happy to be back to a full two sets of Corelle. The entire two sets (32 pieces) fit into the dishwasher with ease and was a pleasure to load because it's all so light weight and sturdy.Some people say that they don't care for Corelle and I can see from a restaurants standpoint that heat retention is low for when you want to keep meals warm on the hot plate while they are waiting to be served, but these just aren't issues for home use.This is in addition to my 5-star review in 2009 http://www.amazon.com/review/R2DTY7Y0OYK13D/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm . I didn't think much of them as a kid, they were just plates, right? Living on a frugal budget through college, etc. I lived w/ hand-me-downs from friends, etc. and usually ended up w/ stoneware dishes. Corelle settings are so much lighter and brighter and don't stain or sratch the way stoneware can! Add to the fact that they stack so compactly you can fit an entire set of 12 bowls in the same space we could only fit 5 stoneware bowls before! These plates are really good for folks with weakness or soreness of the arms, hands, wrists as they are really light and easy to handle. I love the simple, timeless, classic cafe blue pattern. This set would be better w/ lunch plates included as the "toast plates" are only generally good for a small snack or literally toast. Still, this set's definately a bargain for what I paid. I will seek out lunch plates at the local Corning-Revere outlet store. I've heard this pattern has been discontinued and cannot order the lunch plates on their website. (So make sure you buy a set of 12 and it will last you a couple of decades! My parents still have theirs from the 80s.) One cup in one of my 2 orders had a small chip in the bottom; I called the parent company, World Kitchen, LLC, and they shipped me a new cup after getting my shipping info and pattern type.
