The extra bucks are worth the extra life you will get. I'm not an expert on abrasives but I can say that this ceramic material works much faster on metal and lasts longer then the non-ceramic ones I've tried. I will tell you too that customer service is one of the best on Amazon. Responsive and concerned with any problem that there might be with their product.November 30, 2019 Update:Don't know if it's me or the sanding belt but the last two belts from my most recent purchase, did not seem to last as long (by number of projects) as my earlier purchases. You do pay a little more but it really is a good product.It’s now the middle of January and I’ve been using this one belt on a regular basis, grinding metal parts and epoxy resin for my projects. These 80 grit belts really hold up for the long haul. And they don’t load up grinding epoxy. I’ve tried a few brands now with the idea of saving money. I use it to grind polyurethane and it has sped my grinding process for these urethane parts in half from a 40 grit belt. Just keep your knuckles away from this belt, as it will remove skin just as fast!So here it is 2020, 4 years after purchasing these belts. Its time to purchase another pair. They really cut great and wear a long time. NOTE: I only use these belts for cutting a 45A durometer polyurethane block, I have never used this belt to cut any steel. I dont want to wear out the belt prematurely by grinding metal with it, so they really last a long time for me grinding urethane only. I highly recommend these belts (I'm using a 36 grit belt for this). Grinding urethane at that soft durometer can sometimes load up belts, these belts never load up, never even close to loading up.
