Quality product that I rely on daily for my personal health regimen

I just started taking NOW Foods NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine) supplements this week, so it's too early to report on personal results, but I'm optimistic based on what I've heard! Several of my friends with chronic inflammation issues have been raving about these, calling them "miracle workers" for liver protection and reducing their overall inflammation. The capsules are easy to swallow and I haven't experienced any digestive upset, which was a concern I had when starting any new supplement. The NOW Foods brand has a good reputation for quality, which factored into my decision to try this specific NAC product. I'm taking them consistently as directed and plan to give them the full recommended time to work before making any judgments. My main goals are supporting liver health and addressing some joint inflammation I've been experiencing. I'll definitely come back and update this review in a few weeks once I've had enough time to observe any effects. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic based on the experiences of people I trust!

N-Acetyl Cysteine or NAC is an amino acid valued primarily for its role in antioxidant production. Along with two other amino acids: glutamine and glycine, NAC is needed to make and replenish glutathione. Glutathione is one of the body’s most important antioxidants, which helps neutralize free radicals that can damage cells and tissues in your body and very important for liver function. Buy the Glycine and take it along with NAC 2 x day on empty stomach as a boost for a few months in a year. Glutamine powder comes in a large tub, you mix with juice or protein shake (low sugar or no sugar!), and drink right after exercise to build muscle. You can continue indefinitely with all 3, or just do boosters twice a year for 1-2 months stretch. I use Glutamine all year after my workouts. DO NOT EAT SUGAR DRINKS OR CARB LOADS, THEY ARE VERY DAMAGING TO BODY. Sugar will age you and destroy your body. Cut back drastically. No point taking supplements then canceling all that work with sugar in your drinks. I use Stevia - just a pinch. NAC is good for lungs as it acts as an expectorant, loosening mucus in your air passageways. As an antioxidant, NAC helps replenish glutathione levels in your lungs and reduces inflammation in your bronchial tubes and lung tissue. NAC is a chelator of heavy metals. In other words, NAC binds to toxic heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and removes them from the body. NAC is one of the most effective oral chelating agents. Taken regularly over a period of time, NAC will remove many toxic heavy metals from the body. I take it for lung, kidney, liver support, lowering blood pressure, and increasing glutathione levels in body. Take this twice a day, or less. My advice is to use this as a booster for 1-2 months twice a year. It also lowers anxiety and helps sleep. Take on an empty stomach between meals.

These are big pills and I am not a fan of the taste. But they are helping. My doctor told me about NAC for my health issues. Now has been my go to vitamin shop for years. I believe the quality is there and pricing is better than most.

Smells gross, but easy to swallow

I began taking this now NAC 100mg supplement 3 times a day in addition to taking the Now Glycine powder twice daily about August 1st. It is now mid-September & I am so happy to write that the Now Glycine powder taken twice daily as well as taking the Now NAC 1000 mg x3 daily has brought about results for me that feel like a true miracle. My depression is gone, zero panic attacks, and zero anxiety. My psychologist who has conducted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Sessions with me weekly for nearly 5 years was so amazed at my results from this Glycine & the NAC that he began taking both daily. He has experienced the same stunning results I have! I have not been solicited to write this review, offered no free bottles, or gain anything by writing this. Do your research. Go to the website PubMed & enter NAC. Nearly 900 studies will pop up. Why don't more professions recommend this? I wish I could tell everyone who suffers anxiety, depression, insomnia, and panic attacks what these two cheap, safe supplements can do to finally rid you of misery. To date, I have lost 24 lbs. Okay, yes, the weight loss is wonderful, but even better is the quality of my life has improved beyond belief. NAC is powerfully effective for a plethora of illnesses & physical as well as emotional conditions. Good grief, it is even clinically proven to be effective to help poor drug addicts be successful in maintaining their sobriety. Side effects? The only thing I noticed was more frequent bathroom visits during the first 2 weeks. NAC is clinically proven help flush out unhealth fats via the fecal route. (Again, see the website PubMed.) But again, that was normalized for me after 2 weeks. And because of the remarkable effect on my depression, metabolism, anxiety, and insomnia from the Now NAC & Glycine, I would continue to take both of these if I had to live in the bathroom.

Excellent quality. Make sure to take with zinc picolinate about 22mg as NAC uses this to convert to glutathione and can deplete your zinc.

I’ve purchased this twice now and have been happy with it. The tablets are a decent size but manageable, and the bottle lasts a long time with 120 tablets. I like that it is a straightforward NAC supplement without a lot of unnecessary extras. I take it as part of my general wellbeing routine and have found it easy to keep consistent with. The packaging was fine, delivery was quick, and the product matched the listing. The only thing I’d mention is that it doesn’t taste the best, so I usually breathe through my nose when taking it. The tablets are also a little large, so that may matter if you struggle swallowing tablets. That said, it’s a small price to pay for a product I’m happy with. Overall, I will be buying it again. Now has been a very strong brand for me and my health.

After listening to the Huberman Lab podcast, I purchased a bottle of the supplement. However, after taking one pill, I woke up extremely dizzy. I stopped taking it, and after half a day, I felt fine again. A week later, I tried again, but 8 hours later, I experienced vertigo-like dizziness. I immediately stopped taking it, and it's clear that the supplement is causing this reaction. Unfortunately, I can't return it.
