Very nice watch. I like the mineral glass - much better than the plastic ones on other cheaper watches. The 40mm size is nice for my wrist. The leather band is comfortable and good quality. I like the larger numbers and how well the indiglo lights up the watch face in the dark. In the week that I've had it, it has kept time well. The one negative would be the case comes up and over the glass creating a "lip" or exposed edge that I'm not impressed with. I see that as a place for dust/dirt/smudges to accumulate.

I have several expedition watches and this green dial version looks great. I also have the white dial with the brown second hand version and the Indiglo light works well.

This watch is a decent compromise in an era when shopping for a watch is a real pain. Of the half dozen watches I've collected over the years, the non-battery watches need service, currently difficult to arrange, and all the remaining batteries, which I'm not equipped or trained to replace, have run out. I wanted a watch to tide me over through the COVID19 pandemic lockdown. A rechargeable smart watch seemed like a good idea in the circumstances, but I hated the smart watch I tried last month, going crazy gesticulating to wake the dodgy display trigger, so I sent it back. The other smart watches on the market at the time showed distant future delivery dates or outsize prices. Based on experience with an almost identical watch to the one I'm reviewing, this watch will do, with it's always-on analog display, clearly superior in its basic clock-display function to the smart watch. My purchase was intended to duplicate a favorite backup watch, now battery-dead, a low priced Timex Expedition Indiglo, with comfortable leather strap and high contrast between hands and face, for an easy, quick read in low light. Upon delivery, I discovered two minor differences, the strap color and the second hand. This silver second hand is less easy to see in low light than the prior white second hand. It's still visible, just harder to see, much like the silver numbers I had forgotten my old Timex had, which my mostly-functioning good old Seiko automatic doesn't even bother to provide. The bright white dots on the hours and the white hands on dark face are the key to the quick read. I have one other battery-dead Timex Explorer, which I like less, with its NATO-style strap and low contrast tan face behind the white hands; its red second hand stands out in moderate, if not low light. This Timex Explorer's leather strap, though reportedly hard to replace, seems to me the most comfortable of all my watches. For modest, short term use, I can happily recommend this watch, while I suppose we should all start shopping now for that replacement strap, as well as the tool to install it. I already have one on order for the Seiko, a similarly comfortable and scarce green leather strap, on a slow boat from Hong Kong, due sometime next month, ordered on the competing well-known classic American online marketplace. Why four stars on this pretty good watch? The reported strap replacement problem, the silver second hand and one other annoyance: in an era of smart watches and smart phones, having to remember to manually advance the date after a short month, five times a year, is just painfully retro. This watch is good for what it is, but it would be more with less, if Timex ditched the date. If this review seems rambling, that's how an agonizing month of online watch shopping felt, before concluding this watch was the right approach for me, another backup watch. If nothing else, dear reader, you get my sympathy as you shop for a watch in a very muddled market. Good luck!

Great looking watch. The watch case fits nicely around my wrist, not standing proud like some automatic watches. This is a beater watch for me and the 100m water resistance is perfect. I may get a black with orange silicone strap to give it an additional sporty look. My second timex expedition the last one had the white face and last around 13 years. Hopefully this has a similar longevity. Would definitely recommend this watch as it hugs the wrist nicely with no gaps between the wrist and watch case. And the 100m we makes it a versatile watch.

I bought this watch to replace my Casio forester watch whose strap pin holes enlarged to the point that the strap would not stay on reliably. I decided to go with a metal case instead of plastic so this would not happen again. The Casio also had a tiny battery that did not last long. This watch has the look and feel of quality. The stainless case has a finely brushed finish that is classic. The dial as others have said is a medium gray rather than the dark gray that is depicted in the pictures but I think this this goes better with the stainless case anyway. There is still sufficient contrast between it and the hands to make it very readable. The date is also very easy to read. Unlike some other reviewers, I really like the combination brown leather and black nylon webbing band. I find it very comfortable and think it looks great too. If it does not last it can be easily replaced. Other reviewers have said that the ticking is very loud. I would have to disagree. In a quiet environment the watch has to be within 15" of my ear and facing my ear before I hear it. It is not noticeable at all. I also find that the time and date are easier to set than my old Casio forester; I do not have trouble finding the spot where the date can be adjusted. The indiglo is also a very nice feature that illuminates the dial very evenly. All in all I am very impressed with the watch so far. It looks and feels like a more expensive watch. I bought it as my work watch (I'm in construction) but it's almost too nice for that. I will update if there are any reliability issues that come up. Update: After 2-1/2 years of daily abuse the knob for setting the time came off while gardening. That's a pretty long time for such an inexpensive watch to last for me. I'll be buying another similar Timex Expedition watch.

11/7/15 UPDATE - I've only had this watch less than one month with very mild use and the band is already starting to shred. Now I'm paying an extra $10 bucks for another band. Very Nice. 3 Stars Because The Band Is Just Okay Quality, Not Nearly As Dark Or Thick As Picture Indicates, and Doesn't Match Up So Well With The Face. Plus, the face backdrop is dark grey and not black and this watch was a second choice as replacement for my original order. I Originally Ordered The Much Nicer T49261(in my opinion) More Bold, White Back, Better All Leather Band that I returned because with white hands on the white back made it to much of a strain to read the time so I switched it out for this one. However, I did note the indiglo light works much much brighter & better with the white back watches verses these watches with dark grey/black backs. OKAY - This Particular Watch Looks Much Like The Picture With The Exception Of The Band Not Being As Dark And Thick As Picture Indicates - A simple clean looking watch for daily use. The band is composed of a decent quality combo 50% dark brown leather and 50% nylon. Also, the band is a little more on the rugged side and my personal view is an all leather band would have matched up much better with the dressier face on this particular watch. Only Two More Things I Think Need To Be Pointed Out : A) Watch measures approximately 9.5" fully stretched out. So if your wrist is large you may want to reconsider. B) When it first arrived I thought it was defective because when I tried to set it and test the indiglo light the dial would not push in or pull out. FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON THESE IDIOTS PUT A TINY PIECE OF PLASTIC VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE PREVENTING THE DIAL FROM ANY MOVEMENT. This tiny invisible obstructive plastic piece needs to be removed before you can set this watch. This is still a very nice Watch and as with all Timex watches - Outstanding Value For The Money. That's It - hope I helped someone.

Bit expensive but the cheapest I could find. Lovely watch. This Will be the second one I've owned, the first was destroyed by a so called watch expert who cracked the glass. It's light and the iniglo along with luminous hands and numbers make it easy to read day and night.
