They fit as advertised
In a world of throw away junk products it's nice to have a writing instrument that harkens back to the days when people communicated by writing in cursive and actually speaking to each other rather than cryptic text messages. Here is a photo of a quality wring instrument.

Perfect Substitute
I had gone to a local office supply store to purchase a refill for my Sheaffer, and they did not have any. Checked Amazon and found this refill. Very pleased, it's just as good as the brand name refill.

Not to put too fine a point on it
I enjoy this refill, even the inconsistency of it. I imagine it'll smooth out with use. It'll be great for things I want to look like were hand-written with a coarse pen. I wanted a fine point Sheaffer Rollerball refill, though, and while the Monteverde point may be fine the output is not. The white paper in the comparison photo is a clean sheet of HP copy paper folded in half twice. The other is 100gsm dot grid journal paper (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VV9WHGB). Writing with the Monteverde and Avant on copy paper I can feel and hear the scratch; Writing with the Bic feels smooth. On the heavier, dot grid paper they all feel smooth smooth. The Monteverde writes thicker and soaks the paper more, though, than the Avant Next 0.5mm and Bic do.

Old stock refill
Item was old and point of pen was discoloured. Stick with the Shaeffer original refills.

Streaky, Not Smooth, Pale.
On the plus side these refills fit my Sheaffer well. However, they're not the smoothest of refills. I've tried them on a few types of paper and they work well only on the really expensive stuff. Even on high quality paper, the refills aren't smooth enough and the writing experience is pretty much in the same class as an average ballpoint or rollerball. I wasn't very impressed with the Sheaffer refill that I had in my Sheaffer pen, which is why I got these, so I guess they're a pretty good match on that count. The color isn't rich or bold - pretty pale and dull. Don't care for these.

Fitted my Sheafer pen, I received two blue refills . I really wanted a black refill, a blue and black would have been better for me!
