With a background in claying, I thought I'd give it a whirl myself. I soon found out about Angie Scarr and her amazingly realistic representations of food in clay. What hooked me was the realism, translucency, and delicacy of her onions - those are museum quality. While the onions aren't covered in this book, it does go into great detail with many other foods. Included are coconuts, avocado, celery, kiwi, tomatoes, olives, and peppers. You also can read a thorough discussion on all kinds of various techniques -tools, moulds, safety, and information about the clay itself. There is also a true-to-scale ruler included on the pages with good photographs of the end result, so you can really see what your goals are. Also of extreme importance is the color mixing guides. Every project includes this information, and as I am quickly learning, it's color that counts. The first cane I made was the banana cane. I was pretty impressed how it turned out, but I owe it all to her clear instructions and excellent photographs. The price I paid for this book is well worth it. Even if you don't end up making anything, it's fun to admire the adorable asparagus, the tiny cabbage, and the bell pepper slices. She suggests the reader look to the actual food for variances in coloring. She encourages observation on the part of the miniature food maker so they can utilize the skills taught herein to apply to whatever other items they may want to make. The majority of the book is on caning. There is also much use of the Skinner technique, which she explains how to do. highly creative, beautifully photographed and super inspiring
Angie has figured out so many fine details to make the very best tiny food models. I'm grateful for the detailed explanations, including tips born of experience, the clever techniques that transfer to other modeling projects and the sheer artfulness of it all. She has delighted me with what she designed, created and presented and then inspired me to carry on as well. So many ideas, so little time!

Could be more descriptive but a great reference none the less.
This is for the most part a great book and is a good refrence book for different techniques. This book however had one main problem throughout which is why I rated it four stars instead od five. Occassionally, the authors explanations and descriptions suffer from a lack of detail which makes them a bit difficult to understand at times. Additionally, the author uses words or phrases that are probably common knowledge to the industry of miniature crafting but may be unknown to no voice or moderate crafters. I wish she had taken more time to add more detail. Even with the short comings described, I am very happy with the book and would recommend.

Delivered on time. Beautiful pictures, clear instructions, the pages are thick and good quality, and resources are listed for tools needed. This is my third purchase of Angie Scarrs books. 1 I gave away as a present but I'm keeping this and my other book Making Miniature Food and Market Stalls. There are a few tutorials that are in each book but each book has many different tutorials as well. I think for a beginner, it's better to purchase Miniature Food Masterclass book because it explains the whys more. I have purchased her moulds and are impressed with their quality although they are a bit pricey (euro vs dollars). My orders from her site is delivered on time. If Amazon carries her moulds I would purchase it here because I love my Amazon prime. Since they are not available here, I purchase my silicon moulds at angiescarr.co.uk.

Wonderful Book!
Being a beginner in the making of miniatures I have found this book to be awesome! The author gives great instructions and I love how she has the projects labeled at different skill levels. There is something for every level. I went out and got lots of goodies to get started on making some of the sweet little things. You can't go wrong with this book!

Angie Scarr is most definitely a master of polymer clay miniatures. This book is chock full of wonderful creations. Her instructions are very clear, and the terrific photos make it easy to replicate her food. A must for any DIY miniaturist!

Dieses Buch ist zusammen mit "Making Miniature food and market stalls" das beste zum Thema Miniaturlebensmittel. Beide sind von Angie Scarr und dieses baut auf das erste auf, deswegen kann ich nicht sagen, welches mir besser gefällt. In diesem Buch finden auch Fortgeschrittene neue Anregungen zum Thema Fimoessen und erlernen neue Techniken, die im ersten Buch noch nicht vorkommen, wie z.B komplizierteres Caning, alles zum Thema flüssiges Fimo und Formen aus Silikon selbst herstellen. Dieses Buch regt etwas mehr zum Experimentieren mit verschiedenen Materialien an als andere. Ich würde nicht sagen, dass es nichts für Anfänger ist, die Projekte sind nach Schwierigkeitsgrad sortiert und mit Punkten gekennzeichnet. Ich finde, dass gutes Schulenglisch und ein Wörterbuch absolut ausreicht, um die Projekte nachzuarbeiten. Die Anschaffung dieser beiden Bücher lohnt sich auf jeden Fall, ich finde aber, andere Bücher braucht man dann nicht mehr, da beide Bücher eigentlich den Bereich Fimo gut abdecken, man lernt alles, was man braucht, um mit den erlernten Techniken selbst neues zu entwickeln. Mittlerweile kann man übrigens alle Materialien bequem im Internet bestellen, teils ist es im Ausland incl Porto sogar günstiger als in deutschen Bastelshops.

Libro fatto veramente bene.un sacco di idee spiegate bene con molte foto.valido secondo me anche per chi non ha proprio pratica con l'inglese.soddisfatta!

日本のこの手の本は完成作品がきれいな写真で、製作工程はあまり丁寧でないものが多いですが、これは製作工程がものすごくわかりやすいです。 英語がわからなくても、画像を追っていけば「なるほど」と理解できると思います。

Book is wonderfully executed lots of photographs to follow, some creations can be done by amateurs and novices such as myself, others are expert level but can be achieved with patience. Angie scarr is one of the best food creators out there and any of her books are well worth buying.
