THIS ONE! GET THIS ONE!
Amazing quality for a crazy low price. If youโre interested in learning, this is the choice youโre looking for. Itโs held tuning amazingly, it feels nice, itโs definitely well built, and it just looks good! Great choice for beginners or shredders who want to learn classical! Great size, doesnโt feel awkward, and it sounds incredible. Only had to tune up after opening it, the strings it came with were good but I had ordered some extras knowing theyโll be needed.

Highly recommend for someone wanting to learn guitar. Worth the extra money.
I'm a beginner guitar player who has tried several different guitars. This is the one to get if you're trying to learn. The nylon strings make it easier on your fingers as you learn. And this Yamaha is a lot better quality that some of the cheaper options. Well worth the extra. Tunes up nice. Stays in tune mostly - which is good. I'm sure it's normal for it to get slightly out of tune as the strings stretch a little - especially with new strings. Comfortable to use. Action is good. Some of the other guitars I've tried had a large gap between the strings and the fret - making it more difficult to play. But this one has a smaller gap - which I like.

Well worth the cost
Very nice entry level or spare guitar. Tuned easily. Good sound. Does not have lugs for a strap.

a very nicely crafted guitar for the price
I'm a relatively inexperienced guitar player, although I have owned guitars before - including a really nice Goya "jumbo style" steel-string acoustic folk guitar. This is my first classical guitar, but I have both seen (and heard) many of them played on the Internet. I'm still in the process of evaluating this nice classical guitar. But I did find out a couple of things that disturbed me... The action on this guitar was much too high for me, and I managed to get the saddle out and to sand it down - just enough to lower the action significantly. (It's still a bit on the high side, but I feel that the guitar is much more comfortably playable now.) Also, it appears that this guitar - (which I purchased solo and without the "guitar package") is actually a Yamaha model C-40 and not a C-40II. (Part of the way that I could tell this was by the bracing that is used on the top of the guitar.) It is just the conventional bracing, and not (as best as I could tell) the improved bracing that the C-40II advertises. The sound of it is quite nice though (IMO) - even with the "stock" strings that are used on it. (I bought new strings for it, but I'm not really in a hurry to install them.) It seems that the quality and the workmanship on this guitar is top notch - which is surprising to find in a guitar at this relatively low price point. This guitar has a very nice finish, and there were no defects that I could find (and I checked it out as carefully as I could). It plays nicely too - especially since I lowered the action of the guitar strings. I looked at a lot of guitars, but the Yamaha name (and all of the good customer reviews) was enough to sell me on this guitar. I would have liked to have had a truss rod on the guitar, but alas, this guitar just didn't come with one. Many classical guitars don't have truss rods (especially at this price point, but I have read that this is even the case with some of the more expensive classical guitars). The "bottom line" -- I would recommend this guitar to a friend.

Great Performance Guitar
Amazing guitar for strumming and classical music, has a great warm sound, and stays in tune very well. Any nylon string guitar like this is great for starting players and it can create some nice professional tones when recorded into instrumentals. โYou never caredโ was a instrumental I created with this guitar and it has a beautiful โnothing else mattersโ typa tone at the start.

Beautiful sound, beautiful build
Having had a classical guitar education since my early adolescent years, I have a very fond appreciation for nylon string guitars. This option, at this price, is terrific value for experts and beginners alike. The build is so smooth and has a very nice finish, it feels sturdy without feeling heavy, and light enough to be carried around by teenagers and adults alike. It's also not prohibitively small nor large, allowing most hand sizes, like the small ones I have, to be able to hit all notes (even the dreaded F#) without difficulty. I also can't overstate how nice it sounds. It has a beautiful, airy feel to it that only the best nylon classical guitars can have, and the strings that come with the guitar are perfect to start playing it as soon as the guitar arrives and is tuned. I've been playing classical guitar for decades, and this was a great choice to jump back in after a hiatus of a couple of years. Whether you are looking to help a growing kid learn a new art from scratch, looking to start playing classical guitar yourself, or are an advanced maestro needing a spare nylon guitar somewhere, this choice is incredible value for the money. I love it!

fantastic for the money
Yep. The hype is real. I bought a Cordoba C5CE years ago, loved it. Sadly, I sold it for some reason. So after looking, i found this popular Yamaha. I've always respected Yamaha musical instruments...I grew up playing the PSR 280 keyboard and it's lasted for 20 years. I wanted something great but I didn't wanna spend a lot of money. This seemed to fit the bill. So i got it in the mail, and yes, the hype is real. The thing is built cleanly and with precision for this price point. I consider $140 to be ridiculously cheap when I'm buying any instrument other than a Eukelele. So, for this much money, I'd normally expect complete garbage. But what we have hear, I think, is an example of excellent consolidation and streamlining. This guitar has no features meaning: no special top of the line woods, no electronics, no fancy graphics or inlays etc. They put all effort in making a rock solid, decent sounding instrument. Now, compared to my old Cordoba, it does not have that "wow" factor in terms of tone. But it does have the "goodness this thing is well balance and very playing" factor, couple with the "I only spend $140, this is insane" factor. So, if you are needing a nylon string to keep around for various projects, gigs, and occasional professional needs, and you are on a budget, get this. Like wise, if you are wanting something that just grab and play for fun at the office or in the living room, get this. I'm a professional player, so let me tell you knew guys: a nylon string is a fantastic instrument for a beginner to get started on because it's easy to play, like an electric, and the neck is fat, so it'll help you learn to splay your fingers properly. Likewise, for a pro or seasoned musician, this guitar is perfect to keep around because it's light weight, easy to play, satisfying to noodle around on, and just feels and sounds great. As a keys player, i don't play steal string as much as I could, so my fingers aren't always 100% callused up. So this nylon is great to noodle around on, write with, keep handy. But, I also know it usable for recording purposes and live playing purposes when the needs arise for such an instrument. I feel great about this purchase, and yet again, Yamaha impresses me. Good job team.

Great for the cost, for beginners and experts
Nothing bad to say about this guitar for the price. I replaced the strings with a new pack right away and did notice a better tone.
