We love it. Soups are quick, tasty, healthy and cheap. It’s really simple to throw together a protein (thinly sliced beef, chicken raw or even rotisserie, tofu, shrimp, meatball, egg), a cabbage (Napa, bok choy, green cabbage, kimchee), a few veggies (yellow onion, green onion, scallion, garlic, diakon radish, zucchini), rice (udon noodles, ramen, dumpling, rice cakes) with water and bring to a simmer. This soup base creates a wonderful broth. I’m used to building flavor by sautéing onions and all that (western soups and stews). It’s astonishing how quickly you can make wonderful stews and soups with no browning or sautéing. This soup base plays a very big part in the success of those simpler soups. It has a clean flavor and although it is salty, it’s nothing like a flavor packet from instant noodles. Always appetizing and always easy on the stomach.

Tastes great!

This is a really useful base for making any soup or broth taste exceptional. I use it in the pan while steaming dumplings after browning them, and they turn out super delicious. Added to water, because it is super concentrated. It lasts a very long time, because you don't need a whole lot to flavor anything. The size is just right for a busy home kitchen. Versatile, that is definitely a great description for this base. Good value because it's concentrated. texture? Um, it's liquid. ??

Must have an ingredient and a super broth shortcut for making shabu-shabu. Quick, easy use puts a quality dish on the table in no time. Excellent value for the money and size of container, since we'll get 2-3 meals from the bottle.

I haven't had steady access to an Asian food market for a while, and was really craving some cold soba so decided to give this a try. It is so good. I'm not picky about Noodle quality and I like to experiment, and this soup base has been good in other noodles too. I also used a dash of this the last time I made a rice bowl and wowza. Just a great 'umami' flavor, very satisfying. I've collected bits and pieces for seasoning food and this is definitely going to be a staple from now on. It's incredibly easy to use this to make a quick snack of soba, and I tried it with some udon noodles yesterday. It was great. One or two tablespoons goes a long way, but everyone is going to have their own preferences on how much water you want to add to it. And you do want to add some water to it, it's concentrated. I tried dipping soba noodles straight before diluting it, and it wasn't bad but i do prefer it a bit less intense. 😅

Excellent product! This adds an authentic taste. I've used it with ramen as a part of making the $.59 packages better. I cannot find this in my local stores

Like many other reviewers - this Soup Base is RIDICULOUSLY priced and if you dont like it you cant return it. The seller needs to bring the price down to a maximum $10.99 to even consider getting repeat buyers on Amazon. Price Gouge. So why did I buy it - well I live in the "outpost" of Ontario and the product is nowhere to be found :( When it dipped in price to $17 I bit the bullet and bought it. The promised delivery time almost didn't happen which was also aggravating. Howeverrrrr that being said, the flavor IS amazing. Light in color - Big on Taste. I'd go with slightly beefy with a twist. See there is fish/tuna in the ingredients which of course gives it a distinctly different flavor. Looking forward to using this over my beef rolls to make GYUDON which I love. Will I purchase here again -- NO! The next time I'm in a big city I'll try and purchase several bottles instead. I can recommend for flavor but not for price.

Great tasting product no doubt. BUT if you can find it in a store you will pay much less. I've seen it as low as $7.97 . $17.00 is beyond all ridiculous.

I read a lot of reviews before trying this as it sat in my cupboard for a while. I ended up using 3 parts water, 1 part of this soup base, a few spoons of mirin and one spoon of sesame oil. I cooked thin onions, cubed tofu, and some konjac noodles to boil in the mixture. I am SO IMPRESSED with the depth of different flavours. I will 100% be purchasing this again (if not forever) due to umami profile and ease of use when paired with whatever I had in the fridge.
