Does anyone know if this meets TSA regulations for carry-on luggage?

Does the lid fall into the can when you get to the end?

Nope. If you back the opener up about 1/8 to 1/4 turn before you completely sever the lid then the lid will lift up nicely...still attached to the can. One nuisance to using this opener...there's a little return spring that sometimes struggles to completely return the open to the "ready to cut" position (or perhaps my opener needs a little oiling). Before attaching the opener to the can, just turn the handle about a quarter turn to help the return little spring do its job, then have at it. Best opener I've ever owned.

It's impossible to get the blade over the edge of the can, in order to cut it- no clearance- what am I doing wrong?

I set the blade on top of the can. Back it off about 1/4 turn to seat the blade. Then proceeded turning forward.
