cuts the sun, beautiful, easy to adjust
I bought two of these two years ago to cut the morning sun from a southeast-facing porch in New Hampshire. The house does not have AC and on hot summer mornings the porch quickly starts to heat the house too much. We had a very old split-bamboo blind that I loved, and I added two of these reed blinds to see if they would do well to extend the shade across more of the porch. They're great, so this year I bought two more to shade the whole side of the house. I roll them down in the morning and back up in the afternoon when the sun is off the porch. They cool the porch and by extension the house very significantly. They are pleasant enough to look at from outside, but the real score is that they're beautiful from the inside, very important as the view from our porch is lovely and there has to be some compensation for masking it! You can still sort of see the view through them, and I love the way the blinds split the light, and the streaky shadows they cast. At night, too, if they are rolled down they help turn the porch into a cozy extension of the living space--I strung a 24' string of warm-amber Edison-look LED bulbs along the rafters, and their light is very pretty against these blinds. My extremely opinionated extended family has had nothing but good things to say about the blinds. I hung them from large screw hooks and hung a cord from each hook that has a small loop at the end, adjusted to the right length to hold the blinds very tightly rolled out of the weather all winter. The little plastic hooks that come with the blinds are quite easy to use to adjust the blinds to different heights. I have to use a stepstool or a chair to put them up high.

Easy cabana vibes
These were more expensive than I wanted to pay initially, but so far I’m impressed! We get late afternoon sun on our back patio and I wanted a simple, non permanent way to block it out while still allowing some airflow. I didn’t realize this came with hardware but I just nailed it into wood. I also want to get some for our metal gazebo, which I’ll probably just use adhesive hooks to hang. My only concern based on other reviews is whether they get moldy, so I’ll probably look for a weather proofing spray to apply just to give them some added durability. Even if I have to replace them every summer it’s still much cheaper than spending thousands on real roller shades. I also just like the look a lot more!

Very satisfied
These blinds were in my cart for awhile, but what made me take away a point was the drastic price fluctuating so drastically from $96 too $200 then back down to $120 which is when I finally purchased them. I purchased the 72x72 but I think with width wise I would say more 73, but that's ok because they are secure on my balcony and when it gets windy they will not go anywhere nice and snug. I was thinking when I chose the solid blinds it would of provided a little more privacy, but at night they do the job, you have to really look hard to see whats on my balcony and in the evening I think that's when the privacy kicks in unless you have your hanging lights on. They are made well and seems like they will handle all weather scenarios. Overall good product.

Love these
Obviously doesn't entirely block the sun, but it does provide enough shade while not blocking the view entirely and looks more natural than plastic shades that will eventually crack in the sun. Very pretty and well made, although they are delicate because the individual reeds are thin. But still very nice and looks as if they will last a long time. I used twine to tie up the extra length instead of the plastic hooks that are included because the twine is not really visible and the plastic hooks included to hold up the extra length are an eye sore, but that's my personal preference. We easily took them down and rolled them up before the hurricane hit and easily put them back up after the storm. Highly recommeded.

Crazy increase in price!!
I really like these shades! I have bought them in the past. I went back to buy a replacement because they dont last. What the heck happened to the price HOLY COW!! I paid less than $50 for 72 by 72. Now it is $122!! I will be looking elsewhere.

Great privacy and heat reduction—holds up well in harsh conditions!
This product has been holding up remarkably well. It has endured extreme heat and heavy rain without showing any signs of damage or deterioration. The strings that support it are still secure, which gives me confidence in its durability. I’ve noticed a reduction in heat entering my apartment by about 25%, which, while not a drastic change, makes a noticeable difference. From inside, I can still see outside clearly, but when viewed from the outside during peak daylight hours, visibility into my apartment is significantly reduced, even with all my lights on. This makes it perfect for maintaining privacy. With these installed, I feel much more comfortable opening my blinds during the day to let in natural light without worrying about prying eyes. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the performance of this product!

Easy to Cut After Trial & Error
We needed an economical solution to diffuse some of the afternoon sunlight that roasts our screen porch. We purchased three of these (48") and had to trim them down to fit +/- 44" openings (each of our openings are slightly different widths). All three blinds are hung recessed between the wood. We tried several methods of trimming the width and found the easiest, quickest and most accurate way was: lay the blinds on our patio fully extended; use painters tape the entire length to hold the bamboo together; measure desired width; use a sharpie and a long straight edge to draw a straight line to your desired width; then have one person stand on a step ladder with the blinds fully extended and have a second person use very heavy duty scissors to cut the line from the bottom up. Suggestions: -If you need to cut a lot off consider taking some from each side. -Start with your widest section / measurement if you are cutting more than one blind that way if you make a mistake you can cut it again if needed - this happened to us during the trial & error phase. -the "roll up, tape and saw method" did NOT work for us on the first blind, the edges were jagged and crooked. We are very pleased with the end result and I hope these suggestions help.

Beautiful!
These blinds are exactly what I wanted…perfect colour as they look very natural. They let in the perfect amount of sunlight in my sunroom. My plants are not getting burned by the West sun magnifying through the window anymore. I didn’t want cords as sometimes they get broken. The clips are ok or you can put your own tie on. Don’t get if you are looking for light blocking….these are a light filter only.

basic and do the job
I ordered two of these, one arrived and clearly had been opened before. It was not wrapped inside the box, box was resealed, and was missing the instructions and attachments. Only option was to return and replace, but that is far too wasteful, so we managed to retrofit it with other pieces we already had. Blind will do the job, but only because we were able to make it work.
