I call my phone a smart phone because whoever designed it didn't expect it's owner ...
I had an identical one, but in blue instead of pink. If you just need a cellphone for talking, texting and taking pictures, this is it.If you have a laptop, why would anyone want email on a phone screen? Personally, emails are something I do when I have time to relax with a glass of tea. So much technology is getting in the way of having real connection, rather than making us more connected.I call my phone a smart phone because whoever designed it didn't expect it's owner to need to connect to NASA and the like. And it comes with a top to close it and protect the screen. Duh!!! My laptop has a lid. My washer has a lid. Even my toilet has a lid. I know all you geeks out therethink I am from the stone age. I think it's just plain common sense to simplify your life, not add more and more and more ways to fill your timeon the phone instead of talking to your loved ones sitting right in front of you!!! Anyway, it's a good, sturdy, longlasting phone.

Best T-Mobile Flip Phone I've Found
Edit 1/30/15: About a month ago, I dropped & broke my phone. I love this phone, & as it seems to be becoming a collector's item (check out the pricing for real non-pirated USA models) I bought 2 more used ones. I am equally pleased with the one I am currently using as I was with the original reviewed below. We recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile. For many years I used the Verizon only Motorola V750. I dearly loved that phone; none of the 3 I've tried for T-Mobile are as good.It did have 1 problem which I've run into with EVERY device I've owned that has a micro USB charging jack: the jack went bad. My solution was to buy a cheap used 2nd phone & several cheap batteries & use the 2nd phone as a charger only; as the 1st phone worked perfectly other than the charging jack.Which brings us to the DLite & T-Mobile. I'm on a shared plan with my sister & her family, & T-Mobile is now MUCH cheaper than Verizon. The first T-Mobile phone I tried was a Motorola W490. It WOULD have been the best of the bunch, but as other reviewers pointed out, it was extremely unreliable (you can see my review here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RU6TYDWL0NKAK/ref=cm_cr_rdp_permThen my brother in law gave me a used Samsung SGH-T639. It would have been fine, except the ring tones are so quiet, I had no clue when someone was calling me! The ear piece also was a bit quieter then the Motorola (as is the DLite). You can see my review of the Samsung here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RTZF1T45RFYIW/ref=cm_cr_rdp_permThat brings us to the DLite. I am a Flip phone person. I'm in my 50's & have no use for a smart phone. What matters to me is reception, clarity at both ends & reliability. I did some research & it appears that many people feel the DLite was the last QUALITY T-Mobile style Flip phone ever made.It isn't a bad phone.Pros:1. So far it's reliable.2. No one has complained about not being able to understand me.3. The menu isn't too bad.4. The caller's voice tends to be clear, though I'd prefer it slightly louder (& I have excellent hearing).5. The buttons are quite precise, beating all 3 of the other phones in that areaI can live with this phone, though I really prefer the Moto V750. Shame the various corps require proprietary phones.........Cons:1. Several reviewers on some of the other colors (each color has it's own listing on Amazon) comment about shorter than average battery life. That's been my experience also.2. T-Mobile has a great feature they're turning off on 3/31/14: you can type your entire phone address book into T-Mobile's website & download it to the phone. I'm glad I got to use it.3. They've already shut down the online photo album.4. The few hot keys/soft keys are not configurable.5. The background used when manually entering a phone # can't be a user generated photo.6. The camera is mediocre. The key to this phone is going to be reliability. Will the charging jack go bad? If the phone lasts 2 years, I'll be reasonably happy. I suspect soon decent Flip phones will be collector's items..........Edit: as of mid July, 2014 all is still good.

Solid, reliable phone with great sound quality
I purchased this phone 2 years ago direct from T-Mobile with a contract renewal. This phone is already discontinued and hard to find as technology changes so fast nowadays. Too bad as in some ways this phone exemplifies what a cell phone ought to be. It is simple to use, has great reception and excellent call quality (I can hear others clearly and they can hear me - no hiss, no static, no echos, no muffled sound) and it is very sturdy. I can verify the last as I am a total klutz and have been very tough on this phone - I have dropped mine way too many times, at least once a week on average - despite all that, it still works fine, nothing broken - and that was without a case (I finally broke down and bought a protective case a few months ago as I figured I've been pushing my luck, lol). The buttons are large, clearly labeled and comfortable to use - and there are enough of them so that you can quickly access the functions you use most by pressing one button, but not so many as to get confusing; plus the clamshell design means you don't accidently press buttons. The display screen is a good size, bright and clear, speakerphone is loud and clear as well and easy to turn on and off. You can assign different colored lights and light patterns to each contact, plus pictures for contacts - when someone calls you, the lights you assigned flash at the end of the cover and their name (or phone number if no contact name associated) is spelled out in lights on the cover. If you want to answer a call, you just flip the phone open. If you don't want to answer a call, you can just turn the phone over and it will stop ringing and send the call to voice mail - this feature also works as a 5 minute snooze if you use the phone as an alarm clock. Pictures and video quality is just so so, as this is only a 2 mega pixel camera and there is no flash, but certainly good enough for web posting, etc. This phone has a rudimentary built in music player - very good sound, but no shuffle, no playlists, will only play mp4 and does not have a standard headphone jack - uses usb charge port for both charging and headphones - earbuds with the correct connector are included. It will accept a micro sd card, although same is inserted behind the battery (d'oh!). This phone is ok for limited texting, but is not for the heavy texter as there is no qwerty keyboard. I find the battery life is very good as long as I don't use bluetooth - I typically go 2 to 3 days between charges. Using bluetooth seems to drain the battery at a ridiculously high rate, so I always use the earbuds when listening to music instead. Every once in a while I consider replacing this phone with something that has more music features (i.e. will do playlists and random shuffle) and which will have longer b-life on bluetooth, but so far have not done so because this phone has one feature I really, really like - it's reliable. It doesn't reboot, disconnect, get viruses or have software issues or any issues at all - it just works.
