Review: Good Continuation of the First Book - I'm finding this book to be a good continuation of the first book which is for "beginners." It's a lot tougher, with more advanced vocabulary and grammar. Like the first book, the vocabulary is accessible, by which I mean it's introduced in context, then repeated over and over. Grammar is it's own animal, so I'll tell you that I've been learning grammar with a high school level text, but then there's lot's of opportunities to practice throughout the text. It's a fun book to read and learn from, and you feel like you're improving because you understand the story - en francais! I want to address the little bit of hate I've seen in another review. Btw, I don't know the authors, I'm not a shill, I just like learning languages. For me, a truly captivating story would be in an area I really like, such as history, or music history, etc. So if that's your interest, it's out there on the internet. A book like this is geared to people not quite ready for that level of reading, or perhaps just arriving at that level but still needing to boost vocabulary and understanding. It gives a broad spectrum of exposure to topics and vocabulary, and creates stories that are fun to read. Sure they're cheesy, but you're not ready for Ph.D. dissertation material in the early stages of the language learning process. So have fun with the stories, and take them for what they are! This book doesn't pretend to be the next great novel; it's teaching us a foreign language. Review: Buy the audio book - As a first time language learner, my approach might be different from those that are coming at this book from a polyglot/language buff perspective. What I like about this book is the stories are straightforward and cover a wide range of vocabulary. The sentences are more complex than a beginners, enough to offer me a challenge to stay concentrating, but not so much so that it's impossible to get through. It's a really good balance. The audio book is read slow enough too, so that I can focus on vocabulary and concentrating on listening for a longer period of time. I don't find the vocabulary lists as helpful, but I am used to looking up words on my own at this point so it might be helpful for others who want the convienence. I like that they are kept at the end, as I don't want English to clutter up the French and break my focus. The questions at the end of the chapter are also extra for me. I'm using it really for the stories.

Fun and Fast Way to Learn French
This was a great book to help me take my French Vocabulary to a new level. Some parts were easy for me but some parts were challenging that required me to take the time to learn new vocabulary. The stories are interesting and allowed me to stay focused to learn the new vocabulary through the context of the stories. This book was a good way for me to continue enhancing my ability to “Speak” French quickly. I hope there will be an audio version soon as this will speed up my learning as well. A great book to learn Vocabulary faster and in a fun way.

Very well written and produced
I have both the beginner AND this intermediate short story books french from lingo mastery. I also have them as audio books on audible. I read a story until I fully understand it, then I listen to it on audible while following along with the text to make sure I am pronouncing it right and to train my ear . These books are very well written and produced, and I think they are a great value and they have helped greatly to improve my fluency AND vocabulary. Highly recommend them. John

Another great French learning tool
At this point, I have used several Lingo Mastery products for both German and French, and I believe I have a feel for the quality that this publisher brings. On the whole, these are great learning tools, and I would be happy to use others again for the different languages I study. First of all, to be successful, you must use the PDF that comes with the audio. You’ll get the most out of the stories if you can do any combination of listening, reading, or listening and reading at the same time. Try it at different playback speeds, too, just to get your eyes and ears used to native communication patterns. The lessons themselves follow a pattern of intermediate-level story, bilingual story summaries, vocabulary, and review questions with answers. The stories themselves are quirky and fun, but they demand more from the language student. They are longer in length, and the new vocabulary is extensive. The really great thing about all this vocabulary is that it covers a well-rounded slice of life and gets some things that are missing from other language products. The narrator is a native French speaker, and she has a good voice for reading the stories. She sometimes misplaces the correct stress when speaking English, but don’t let that get in your way. It highlights one of the main sound differences between the languages. English is stress-timed, and French is syllable-timed. Disclaimer: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Bottom line: Recommended for intermediate and ambitious beginning French learners. You’ll power up your language skills with this if you do the work.

Excellent Resource
This audiobook provides an excellent challenge for intermediate French learners who want to continue to develop and hone their listening skills. Audible provides features within the app to help provide the best opportunities to learn. You can easily modify the speed of the text as well as turning on a user friendly mode that allows you to rewind, skip, pause/play as well as record certain excerpts to return to. Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience and look forward to using other resources through this publisher.

It’s ok. 3 of 5 stars
Difficult text for intermediate level. Funny they give you vocabulary of elementary level words like “mother” but some specific words of advance level you gotta look up on your own. Weird

Great for intermediate learners
Great stories for the actual intermediate learner who finds most readers either too simple and geared for the beginner or others too boring and archaic

Great for building on existing skills.
I was given this book as a free download, and it has definitely made me interested in buying other Lingo Mastery books. After finishing a couple of French courses (Paul Noble), which were fantastic, I wanted to continue to develop my skills in French. I've spent years on and off trying to learn French and always failed, so after finally finding a course in the right style to suit me and progressing quite fast in the basics of sentence structure and verb conjugation, I really wanted to continue to build on these skills. This book is perfect for that. I like to read through a page and pick out words I know, and see if I can get the gist of what is happening. I then look up maybe three or four words that then help me decipher a little more. Eventually I'll work my way through to the end of the story and check with the English synopsis given at the end of each chapter. I can then check out the vocab list and learn any new words I've not checked. I like to read aloud as I find it helps with pronunciation and general confidence in speaking French. I definitely give this book a thumbs up.
