What Love Is - Bible Study Book: The Letters of 1, 2, 3 John (The Living Room Series)

Ms. Minter has blessed the Christian Community with a fresh take on a little studied section of God's Word. The books of 1, 2, and 3 John are short and sweet, but somewhat challenging...like facing a journey through the wilderness. When taking on such a task, we are always better off with a guide, a teacher who will lay out each step simply and carefully, with all the love and admiration they would show their best friend. Kelly's subtle sense of humor and soothing voice makes the video portion of the study engaging and delightful, while the workbook and daily study is filled with helpful tools to understand The apostle John's occasionally challenging language. An added bonus are the recipes included after each week's studies! When I think of this study and Kelly Minter, I think of being refreshed not only in God's Word, but in Kelly's presentation of it. If you are looking for an in depth study, but need a little quieter, calmer and sweeter approach, Kelly's your girl.

We did this bible study at our church and it was a great way to dive into 1,2,3 John we all learned that LOVE SHOWS UP and I'm sure each person who receives this book will enjoy getting to know Jesus more and the Love that God has for us from the beginning of time.I highly recommend this bible study for large groups or individual study.

Great study! I read this book with my women's bible study group and we loved it. Each chapter had passages for us to look up and apply to our daily lives. Kelly Minter is a very relatable writer and she added a personal story to each section of the book. We read one chapter a week which meant doing an hour plus of reading each week. I especially loved the fact that there were yummy recipes for us to try. Our group had a big potluck once we finished the book. I definitely recommend this book especially for a women's bible study group.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this study since it's only 6 weeks. I was wrong. Depending on where you are at in life, whether a new believer or have been a Christian your whole life, this study is fabulous! It is very in depth. Each day (5 days) takes about an hour to go through and ponder and even longer if you go on to rabbit trails that she encourages. Best to do it with the corresponding video and a small group. There is a ton to unpack in this short but life changing study.

great bible study book to do alone or in groups. kelly's writing style is funny and engaging. she shares great truth from the word in an applicable fashion. her questions are poignant and good for discussion, though some of her questions that deal precisely with bible passages are hard to get if you don't use her bible translation. many of the girls i did this study with (myself included) were confused at times by that. the personal questions get the conversation going for sure. she also includes fun recipes. definitely recommend her books! we watched one video but opted to not watch the rest because of time constraints. we'd rather talk instead. :)

I had never heard of Kelly Minter, and honestly wasn't expecting much out of this little workbook. Most reviews were good, but there was one that accused it of being shallow, and as a skeptic, I secretly wondered if it was going to be a boring exercise of fluff and shallow ideals. I'm SO glad I still gave it a chance! Yes, I've read 1,2 and 3 John many times, but I had never considered these little books this deeply...or realized there were so many hidden treasures to mine out of them. This was an excellent, thought-provoking Bible study that was very sound and dared to challenge us too work a little for the reward. I've done quite a few studies over the years, but this is one of my very top favorites now. Kelly had a refreshing way of looking at the Scriptures that was able to bring them to life as if you were almost experiencing the story in person. I was able to glimpse the passion of John...and the reason he was able to speak so to the recipients. He had earned their love by taking time for a real relationship with them...he was talking to them, heart to heart, as opposed to speaking down at them, condescendingly. I dislike busywork as much as the next person, and I'm not much for inanely filling in blanks. I struggle with procrastination, too, like the average bird! However, if I skipped a day here or there, I wouldn't just forget it and move on, I was compelled to go back and finish it because it was really just that good. Now that I know what I know, I hope to check out some more of her books. Thank you, Kelly, for pushing me to study harder. <3 I appreciate you being real, yet striving for more!

This study is so good on teaching thru 1,2,3 John. I would really recommend this study to help you in understanding Johns letters.

loving this study and she writes so well and it is easy to follow...looking forward to finishing this study. Wow. We just finished the study and so worth the time in homework and a great great study. Learned so much and loved the speaker and the videos. Great investment!
