Ignore the naysayers and get one or 5 Review: Perfect for What I Needed - I'm thrilled with mine, and I have a big box full of different ligatures, none of which worked with my new mouthpiece. Sizing a ligature for your mouthpiece can be tricky. Here are the dimensions that matter. X-axis (horizontal) range: 7/8" (22.26 mm) to 1-3/16" (30.16 mm) Y-axis (vertical) range: 15/16" (23.81 mm) to 1" (25.4 mm) These measurements are for the front of the slightly conical ligature. I've found that if the front fits where you want to align it, the slightly larger rear diameter will also fit the conical mouthpiece shape. I needed this for a very expensive, custom, hand-made, TENOR (not alto) saxophone mouthpiece that has unusually thin dimensions. Price didn't matter but the fit had to be perfect. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of materials and construction of this ligature and it does everything that it's supposed to do really well. It even has small protective tabs under the tightening screw, so you won't get any scratches on the top of your mouthpiece. The legendary maker of my custom mouthpiece told me, in no uncertain terms, to only use metal ligatures. I've been playing for 56 years and respectfully disagree with him. What matters is the fit and how effective it is in firmly holding the reed to the table of the mouthpiece. The trick for leather or imitation leather ligatures is to maintain pressure on the underside with your thumb, to ensure it's firmly pressed against the mouthpiece table while tightening it. It fits on my Buttet mouthpiece. **Q: Does it come with a cap for the mouthpiece??** A: Yes the mouthpiece cover comes with it. **Q: Strictly for rubber mouthpieces, or would it also work with ABS?** A: Should work with anything as longs as the size is correct. Also. you need to get ail of the parts. Mine was missing the nut. For a tenor sax, you would have to purchase the tenor size.
