Rugged Ranch Products Duplex Nesting Box for Chicken, 12 by 12 by 12-Inch

I needed a nest box to sit on the floor of my coop, I have some new girls that refuse to lay anywhere but the floor and I am trying to tempt them with floor level accommodations. I put them together, slid in some nest pads, put them in close to the preferred area and in just a couple of weeks we have success. Eggs in the boxes. They’re sturdy and get the job done. I would order them again for indoor use, don’t think they’d fare too well in the weather or anything.

Worked for what we used it for.. kinda difficult to piece together.. you have to adjust the center board.

As a previous reviewer stated they plywood was terribly warped, so much so that I had to drill the nails in with my own holes because the predrilled ones didnt come close to lining up because of the warpage. Also no instructions on how to assemble at all. Maybe simple construction like this is easy for some but I dont use power tools and do not work with wood ever. I had to look at the picture and guess and it lack a lot to be desired. My chickens can use this but I dont expect it to last more than a year, it has no finish on the wood and its cheap warped plywood.

Fits together well. I read the comments about warping but didn't realize the ends and the center piece are actually not square, they are 12" x 11 3/4" ( with the back piece the overall is 12x12"). If you get this wrong it will not screw together well if at all. By accident I got 2 of the three right and thought things were warped until I figured out the right way to put it together. The did a nice job of pre-drilling and countersinking the holes. I was going to make my own from scratch so this little gem saved me a lot of time.

The product is good for the price but they have major shipping issues. The first box I received was missing half the parts. I reboxed it and sent it back to Amazon with their free shipping label. A pain in the butt but it happens. The second package came a short time later and was only missing two panels. Yay. This time it came with instructions that asked me to contact the manufacturer if there was a problem, so I called. The first thing the guy tells me is that it's not his problem, it's Amazon's. A conversation ensued... and eventually he agreed to send me the missing parts. So it took quite a bit longer than anticipated but the product is as described and easy to put together even if you're not handy. I do suggest reading the instructions all the way though before you start. Getting the panels lined up correctly is important to the finished project.

The nesting box is just as described. It pretty sturdy with some weight to it.One problem...there were no screws to be found/ included although they were to be included. Pretty easy to assemble.We just ran up to Home Depot and bought some. I know the company would have supplied them if I called but it was Friday afternoon and they were already closed so it was just easier as we needed it now. I will notify them though.

I got two double nesting and two three nesting boxes and I really like them, I got them for my quails to put in their covered aviary as shelters for them specially in winter, I bought straw nesting pads to put inside each box, they’re great for what I am using them for, I don’t want to make them myself, the work and the cost specially lately is just too much, as long as they’re kept away from the weather I think they should last long enough, I love them and my quails do too.

This nest box is made so cheap. The screw holes don’t line up with the wood, and two of the peices of plywood were warped so it doesn’t go together right. The only reason I don’t send it back is because it’s too much trouble and the birds don’t care what it looks like anyway. Don’t buy this product. You will be very disappointed!
