## Description

The ETX-18SP from Electro-Voice is a powered 18" subwoofer for the company's ETX range of PA speakers, a versatile choice for live entertainment venues, rental companies, pro musicians and DJs, and installed sound. The low-profile, tour-grade wood enclosure hosts a high-efficiency transducer and a Class-D amplifier. Signal Synchronized Transducers (SST) waveguide design and smart FIR-Drive DSP work together to provide precise coverage at the highest SPLs.

Review: Can you hear me now? - Damn... that was my thought the first time I turned one of these loose. Bass so deep you feel in your chest. Yet so clean your can't believe it's live audio. Now I'll be upfront I'm not a pro DJ gigging these everyday. But I am an experienced audio snob with years of home theater and music experience. I bring that as my comparison. Frankly they sound nearly as clean as my SVS PB-3000 sub. Not bad considering how much more output they can put out. My use case is as a indoor / outdoor music and movie setup. They don't disappoint. I know there's complaints about the amp hermal throttling. I can't comment. But I'll say if you're running headroom issues, usually a second speaker solves the problem. The cabinets are great. They're not that much heavier (on paper) than the EKX 18s, but size makes them feel twice as heavy. The included casters are a god send. And they aren't cheap nor do they rattle. Everything about the ETX line is well thought out with sound quality being top of the priority list. The on board LCD and crossover work well with other EV PAs. They have general settings for mixed brands. There's no on board Blutooth or wireless which feels like a miss to me. Overall these are bass cannons that do what they claim. Large venues or outdoors. Rich clean bass is what you'll get.

**Q: Is this speaker really just 11lbs ?**
A: 114 Lbs

**Q: has anyone bought the locking power cord? If so what one/ gage is needed**
A: My best guess is that you need 6 amps max for that speaker.  I have 14 gauge cords to keep voltage drop at a min.  Sometimes I have to pull power from a distance.

**Q: Is this sub still manufactured by the same company I remember from my grandfather's high end stereo system?**
A: They claim 1800 watts but that is not the case, if you reference it to RMS in that case it may be 400 watts.
I had to replace the power output block twice. However I must say it is a great sounding sub.

**Q: how loud will be a system of 10 ev etx 15p and 08 ev etx 18sp for outdoor  live music event event ?thank you**
A: It will be be extremely loud, full, and amazing. You would be more than covered with that setup for an event like that.
