Does the brush strighten the hair till th3 tips of the hair?

Well it straightens yes, but not poker straight like you get with flat irons..

What happens when the comb hits the scalp?

While it will feel really hot, unless you keep it too close for too long, nothing much will happen. The heated bristles of the brush, the white ones, do not actually touch the scalp directly. Actually the rubber bristles, the black ones in between, are taller than the heated white ones. So the black ones will first touch the scalp first, allowing you time to remove it without the hot white ones doing any damage.
