Great Bed Foundation - This is the Best Model
This is the perfect one to get. Get this one. You'll see a lot of metal bed supports on Amazon, and you'll be wondering which one to get. In general, I think these beds are great. They are economical, foldable (great for moving and storage options), and sturdy. You don't have to buy a frame and box spring like you used to. Just buy a good mattress, and you are good to go. One drawback is that they aren't usually designed so that you can attach a headboard to them, so this may limit your options. Another drawback is that it doesn't seem they make this in California King sizes. This particular one may cost a little bit more than others, but I would suggest this one over the others. FYI - I use this frame with a Queen-sized Tuft & Needle memory foam mattress. (1) This bed was originally for a young child who weighs less than 50 pounds. So weight isn't a really a consideration - it's not about whether we think the bed will collapse. It's about how supportive the bed feels during every day use. The Elite base with the more substantial metal bars (over the cheaper frames that have a thinner, more wiry look) provided more noticeable overall support. (2) We replaced our child's bed - from this frame to a slatted wooden platform bed. In my opinion, the slats on the new bed did not provide the same support. (3) The recessed legs of this mattress foundation made it possible for us to simply place the frame right inside the wooden bed, over the slats. We didn't have cut into the wood frame to make room, it was a perfect fit and super-easy. I thought about buying a box spring, but I was able to use this frame as a replacement instead, and the bed feels incredibly solid and sturdy. My cousin has an Ikea bed that she used for a few years, and two of the slats broke. I told her about this solution, and she ordered the same one. It worked perfectly for her, and she didn't need to replace her bed. When shopping for a base, it's good to make sure that the legs are recessed - i.e., they recede from the side edges. Some of the other frames have the middle leg placed all the way to the edge. This is fine when the foundation is used alone, but it would prevent it from being used as a support for wooden beds, like I was able to do with this one. In general, I thought this was a great purchase, and I would buy it again.

THIS IS THE ONE!
UPDATE: well it's been 5 years and zero issues with the frame. It's holding up rock solid. I am one who researches everything. Even 1 or 2 bad reviews will make me hesitate. After weeks of looking at platforms I bit my tongue and ordered this one. WOW! glad I did. I am a heavy guy. 6'4" and 345lbs. This frame is holding up great after 6 months. (Even with a Lil hanky panky with the lady) No squeaks or movements. Excellent support. Feels rocks solid while on it and getting in and out of bed. Also I do a lot of TV watching in bed. So I been using it more then your average person. I have a hybrid mattress and even though I didn't need to (I didn't want the coils to poke thru over time, my OCD) I used the box it was shipped in. Box is heavy duty. I cut the box to fit over the top of the platform and secured it into place with little dabs of silicone chalk. Put a non-slip mattress pad on top, then put on my mattress. BOOM! Mattress goes no where. No movement what-so-ever. Just search Amazon for non-slip mattress pad, they are like $17. Easy to set up. Looks good and most important, DOES IT's JOB WELL! My friend has an all foam memory mattress and he purchased the same platform. He didn't use the card board like I did and his mattress is supported 100% and is still able to breathe. So if you're like me and are on the fence or confused about all these platforms to choose from. This platform will work excellent with a hybrid or memory foam mattress.

MAY be worth its weight in gold.
First, the delivery. No notice that they were coming or that it was delivered. I bought two queen 14 Inch Elite SmartBase Mattress Foundations. These are the extra sturdy (extra heavy) model. I found them in the morning, one of the boxes fell across the door. I live in a four family and two of them frequently need to call paramedics. Also, HUGH safety issue IF there was a fire!!!!! After getting the door open. I managed to get one inside to the first landing (I live on the 2nd floor) and decided to quit because I'd either have a heart attack or hurt my back. I am a 61 yr old female, btw.....not playing the age card but I am in no way muscular. I prayed the one I left outside would be there when I got home after work. So that was NOT good. But the frame itself is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Second, the setup. NO BRAINER!!! It was a SNAP! However, I have a queen size Purple mattress. This is more of an issue with the mattress than the frame but if you have one of these types of mattresses you may need help. I didn't have any. These mattresses do not have handles and they are kind of like limp noodles (yeah, a hundred pound noodle) in that you cannot just shove it up against a wall and it will stay there. Nope. I sat on it so it would stay folded over and out of the way while I screwed the wing nuts. Then I pulled the frame close to me and the Purple........I slid around to the other side and the purple sort of flopped on the edge of the frame. Then I was able to pull it across. Whew! I want to mention that I had a traditional box spring that I kept from my old mattress to use with the Purple which I bought this past summer. I was shocked to find that it was made with strips of pine wood, CARDBOARD and then a very thin piece of foam and fabric. I only know this because my cat ripped off the black fabric that was stapled to the bottom. I will never waste money on a box spring again! My bed was not exactly squeaking but it made a sort of creaking noise when I rolled over etc. Now I know why. But not with this new frame!!! No noise at all. It is a tad bit slippery BUT I don't think that will be an issue when I am sleeping. I do have a mattress protector on the mattress...the kind that is like an envelope and zips up. IT is kind of slippery. However, I will need to be able to slide it a bit when changing the sheets as I have a tight corner to deal with and the frame does not have wheels. (that's the only thing I wish it had, that and just a few more inches of height). Third, the storage, oh the storage!!!!! Glorious storage! Yes, is about 12 inches between the bottom of the frame and the floor. But there is PLENTY of storage. I read one review of someone sort of complaining that there is a "channel" and yes there is but that's not an issue for me. I have some shorter boxes that I used with the box spring set up and they slide right under. I have a three piece soft luggage set that fits inside each other and it slid right under (it used to be in the closet). I am now LOOKING for stuff to stick under there! My closets were crammed......open the door and something will fall out crammed. So all this rearranging has helped me get organized and so far have taken of a TON of stuff to Goodwill. So all in all, great product. I bought the sturdier one as the mattress is already a hundred pounds and I didn't want any issues with the bars bending. It is solid as a ROCK. I highly recommend it!

Safe Bed Frame For Plus Sized Person
Finally after years of dealing with bed frames promising to support "big and tall" people, I have found one that is ACTUALLY for big and tall people. My last bed frame advertised to hold up to 1000 pounds but failed in just under three months with one 400-pound person. It collapsed while I was sleeping and injured me. I decided to try this frame after seeing some recs online from other plus size people. So far I am very happy with this bed frame. Setup on this frame was SO FAST AND EASY. It took me longer to take it out of the box than to set it up. I have slept on it for about a week and can tell it is STRONG. I just stood up on it to dust the wall behind my headboard and it made absolutely no squeaks and did not wiggle a centimeter. I feel SAFE with this bed frame and peace of mind is everything while trying to get a good nights rest. Will update my review if anything changes!

Sturdy. Movable.
I decided to update on this bedframe review because it's been about 9 months since original purchase--my husband and I have now been using since Sept 2015. Still solid, no squeaks with "fun and games". No issues with like some reviewers with the legs bending or breaking. I'm having to set up house in a small condo and decided to order another. Delivered with a few scuffs on the box. No damage to the frame which was clean with well protected corners. Still easy to unfold and set up. NOTE while setting up, the latch needs to be rotated "backwards" to latch properly--this is best accomplished with the frame slightly folded. I like that there is an additional spacer nut on this newer frame. This time I'm using 2 large heavy duty dish packs instead of the carton directly on the frame so the mattress isn't sitting directly on the frame. I'm a 56 year old woman and I was able to get this in the back of an SUV, into a condo, and set up in the bedroom. I love not having to worry about moving a big box spring and when we move we can just fold it up for storage. Original Review This really fits the bill. Purchased this back in August/September but wanted to wait to review it after we had slept on it for a bit. Needed a queen size frame but didn't want to have to purchase a box spring for a queen mattress I already had. I found that the box was in pretty good shape on delivery, the frame itself was clean with no odor like some reviewers experienced. I'm a 55 year old woman and found it very easy to unfold and set-up. I did take another reviewers advice and kept the box it came in, cut a panel off and placed it on the frame before putting my mattress on it--I think this will prevent the mattress from sinking down thru the openings like some purchasers experienced. My husband and I find that it's extremely sturdy and it doesn't shift or squeak with "exercise ;). Used a normal length bed skirt which almost comes to the floor. Lots of space underneath, BUT set it up before purchasing totes to go underneath--because of the cross bars it may not fit a standard under bed tote.I like the fact that if we have to move, it will be easy to fold up and take with us or store. I would buy this again.

Great easy-to-assemble, sturdy bed frame!!
Wow VERY sturdy for a folding bed frame. My husband and I are not large (300lbs combined total weight) but the regular frame was out of stock so I ordered this one. Very nice, doesn't even seem like a folding frame! We had a less sturdy one years ago which was definitely much more flimsy. This one, the bars going across are very thick. That being said, the down side is that I bought this to be very movable.... it does fold directly in half on the shorter length ("hamburger style"). The older flimsier one we had actually came apart in two down the longer vertical length ("hotdog style") and also folded in half horizontally... that made moving really easy. But then again, the flimsier one was really squeaky. No squeaks yet on this one. Assembly was basically non-existent. Just unfold, set on the ground, and lock in these support bars with little wing nuts. Huge underbed storage. Can slide two carry-on suitcases side by side in just 1/4 of the underbed space. Also stored TV boxes, printer box, moving boxes... I did order a bed skirt so that the boxes won't show. We have a foam mattress on top (no box spring needed). The mattress does slide pretty easily if you bump it from the sides. It doesn't move when you're sleeping ON the bed, but I still ordered the non-slip pads.

Very Sturdy!! Don't/Can't Stub your toes or gash your knees!
We have been using this for about 5 months now. No problems at all! My boyfriend and I are a combined weight of approximately 425 lbs and have had ZERO problems with it. He likes to stand up on the bed and walk across it too...We use it with our tempurpedic (mattress only). We plan on putting very thin plywood between the mattress and the frame just for better weight distribution, but we haven't done that yet. Set up was SO EASY!!! Literally took like 15 minutes for my boyfriend to do it by himself. Watch the plastic end caps and make sure those are securely on before straightening out...my bf doesn't really pay attention to detail very well and I had to fix that... We had to move about 2 months after we got it and all we had to do is loosen (by hand) about 6 wingnuts and fold it up. It fit right in our RV through the door and maneuver through it with one person moving it. (typical smaller RV door too) Set up at our new house was once again not even 5 minutes, just to unfold and tighten the wingnuts back up by hand. The only (minor) thing that bugs me about it is the mattress slips down a few inches from the wall, but I don't mind this really. I wouldn't want anything holding it on because I would probably pinch my leg on it, just because that just how stuff works with me! LOL Also, I LOVE that I don't/cant stub my toes or gash my knee on it either!! NUMBER ONE for me when looking for a bed frame!! **I would appreciate it if you click on if you found my review "Helpful" or Not Helpful". I am not receiving any sort of compensation for this review.** Thank you**

2+ years later and...
we were so happy with this base (and our Tuft & Needle mattress), that we bought a DUPLICATE SET for our spare room. Bullet points: - Reasonable price (this cost less than the one we got from the store where we bought our old bed, and is EXPONENTIALLY BETTER than that one, which ultimately ended up voiding the mattress warranty, even though it was sold to us as THE "must-have" frame to "go with" the bed... anyway... ;-p) - quick delivery - very sturdy - good height: getting in and out of bed isn't an exercise in balance and strength, and there's room underneath for storage bins (or an attack cat who likes to chase bare toes) - the "squares" in its construction allow air to circulate -- recommended for foam beds to keep them from mildewing - excellent, QUIET, support (2 yrs in and this is essentially silent -- a FAR CRY from our old frame and box spring) - the legs on this - after 2 yrs of use by sturdy adults and multiple dogs bounding on & off - have (surprisingly) caused LESS damage to our hardwood floor than the casters of our old bed frame did. They also help the bed "stay put" better than even *locked* casters did. Worth mentioning: the box this comes in is LARGE AND HEAVY and requires 2 people to move it -- especially if you're heading up a staircase. Putting it together takes some time to do properly and thoroughly, but - as a reasonably intelligent, handy female - I was able to put the frame together myself. (Once it's out of the box it's considerably easier to move, too.) As I mentioned in my review of our Tuft & Needle Mattress, T&N and Zinus make a terrific combination -- one we absolutely recommend to everyone!

Resistente y silenciosa

Super sturdy and very stable.
Was a bit skeptical about this but very surprised when I took it out of the box and 30 minutes later I was lying on a the mattress on top of the frame and it was solid as a rock. I'm a large person, tall and my lady is medium height and this frame didn't creak, squeak or wobble and shake. It unfolded and went together easily and quickly. We put silicone furniture sliders under the legs and it is a breeze to move for cleaning underneath. The material is high quality and burr free so no torn sheets etc. It came with a very nice skirt and our head and foot boards attached easily with the mounting kit we bought for this frame. You can see that this is a heavy duty bed frame once it is together. Worth the money and definitely heavy duty build. Thanks to the "A" crew for service and delivery. Drive safe everyone.

Better Than Expected
I was really impressed with this bedframe. We bought the Queen. It was too easy to set up, so I hesitate to use the word assembly. By myself, I unfolded it standing on its side, then unfolded the legs and swung the locking bars into position. They have thumb screws already installed that just needed tightening with my fingers. Then I lay it down. I was able to put my feet though the gaps to stand inthe middle, then pick it up to reposition it. The black finish is well done. While the bars are tack welded each side (rather than completely around), the welds appear to be well done and sufficient for the purpose. I am not worried about it coming apart. Already installed are nice thick rubber feet. The design makes the storage space under the bed and it very easy to slide things under from the side. Possibly most important, is that the design is such that you won't bumb your skins on sharp corners (they are rounded like the mattress), or stub your toe on the feet, since they are underneath. Last year I built a king size bed frame out of wood, because we could not find a suitable design. If this had been available at that time in a king (it is now), I would have bought it and saved quite a lot of work. I am very pleased with the purchase and would not hesitate to buy something else from this company.
