The only drawbacks on these "HERCULEAN GOLIATH -WELL MADE RECON PRO CARABINERS are: 1) The RECON Company Logo and the "RATED OVER 5,000LBS" Safety Strength NEEDS TO BE LASER ENGRAVED ONTO THESE CARABINERS This PRODUCT INFORMATION HELPS ASSURE CLIMBING RATING,TENSILE STRENGTH AND QUALITY AND MOST OF ALL CUSTOMER TRUSTING RELIABILITY. I have yet to test these, but they're extremely light, smooth operating, and above excellently priced. These are rated for 5600 lbs (about 31 kN) and similar products I've seen sell for around $20 so this is amazing to get 2 for the price of one. I have toyed with them a little and they seem to be high quality. I will try them out in a couple weeks. When I do test them I will "put them through the ringer" by using them for climbing and rappelling (something they weren't designed for) if they can withstand that (I weigh nearly 300 lbs), I am certain they will do what they're intended for.

Work great. Sometimes the keeper moves on its own and you have to thread it off. Light weight and durable.

Another great product from Hunter Safety. I purchased their Prusic Safety line set up which works great, especially for "climbing sticks" where you feel you could slip off and decided to purchase a few more of these carabiners for my hunting buddies so they could use the stand and snap into the Prusic line before ascending. Very light yet strong and high quality. I'm sure they are made by some mountain climbing equipment manufacture. Good price too, ordered $5 more stuff and got free shipping too! Tough to beat!

I use these to attach my Hammock to my Atlas Hammock Suspension System sold by Eagles Nest Outfitters. This work absolutely beautifully. You get peace of mind when screwing the covers onto the snap knowing that it can't accidentally dump you onto your rump. They are lightweight, Heavy Duty, and very durable. I will be buying another set for my other hammock come summer.

I did not buy these for climbing and I have no experience with mountain or rock climbing. Instead I bought them to use with my kids' tree swing. We used a 10' long tree swing strap which was the longest I could find, however the height of the branch still required about 20' more of chain. The strap came with a nice carabiner but I needed these to attach the chain to a swivel and the swivel to the rings of the net-style swing. They worked perfectly and I liked the locking feature for extra safety.

I am sure you can use these extremely well made clips for many things, but they work exceptionally well for securing a tree stand safety harness to the tree strap. I fell absolutely safe using these in life critical uses.

Great product, if I ever need more, I wouldn't think twice on more buying again.

These are exactly what you would expect them to be. I haven't stress tested the weight they can hold, but they certainly work for my regular use in back country hiking.
