It truly works wonder for skin, I can see results in just 4 days. It's very very sweet but if taken with Luke warm milk/water it helps heal skin and scars.

Good quality, but lack of glycyrrhizin information raises concerns
I ordered this powder with the intention of occasionally using it as a morning drink by mixing it with warm water. However, I later realized that the glycyrrhizin (the active compound in licorice) can have some side effects when consumed in large quantities. The packaging doesnโt provide clear information about the amount or percentage of glycyrrhizin in the powder, which made me a little concerned about its long-term use. To be on the safe side, Iโve decided to use it instead as a face and hair mask, and it works well for those purposes. The product itself seems to be of good quality, natural and organic. But I do think the brand should provide clearer information regarding glycyrrhizin content, especially since it can have significant health effects if taken in excess.

Earthy and Sweet
If you're expecting this to taste and smell like licorice candy, don't buy this; buy Anise powder or seeds instead, because this is the flavor and aroma that you're seeking. This licorice powder smells and tastes both earthy and woody, and is quite sweet to boot. That sweetness is how you know it's genuine licorice root because it's active compound, glycyrrhizin, which is about 50 times sweeter than sugar, is what gives it this property. As for its appearance, it's yellow and extremely finely ground making it easy to dissolve in water and food dishes. If you like tea, my recommendation for this powder is to mix 8oz of boiling water with 1/4 tsp licorice powder and 1/4 tsp anise powder to create a tea that resembles the flavor and aroma of licorice candy. Just don't indulge in it too much, however, as having glycyrrhizin in excess can have serious side effects, so keep consuming this tea to once or twice a week. Overall this is some pretty solid licorice powder and you get quite a lot for your money. The only thing I dislike is that the bag it comes in is not resealable, so make sure you have a container ready to store the powder in. I reused an old glass instant coffee container from Walmart for mine.

UNSURPASSED ON AMAZON by a PROFESSIONAL's OPINION
I am a professional published herbalist with nearly 50 years of experience. In my opinion, of the brands available on Amazon, I find that Carmel is relatively unsurpassed. I typically get my herbs by growing them myself or directly from the growers, but when that is not possible then I go to Carmel!
