Death in the snow
While traveling across the Alterac Mountains Anveena, Kalec and their companions are attacked by an undead Frost Wyrm causing them to crash and be separated. While Jorad and Tyrygosa are captured, Kalec faces of against the Scourge and discovers a group of dwarfs undertaking a strange mining operation. Anveena on the other hand is rescued by the Forsaken Baron Valimar Mordis, and his Tauran companion, who has a plan to stop the Scourge but who also has secrets of his own. This second volume of the 'Sunwell Trilogy' is another good instalment of the story. As with the previous volume, 'Shadows of Ice' has some brilliant artwork and the action scenes are very well drawn. The plot is somewhat improved from the previous volume and there are a few nice twists in the narrative (even if some are a little obvious). Having said this though, the storyline is still a little underdeveloped and a bit too brief for my liking. The volume also includes a brief extract from the novel 'Cycle of Hatred'.Although this was an improvement on 'Dragon Hunt' but still leaves something to be desired. Overall I feel 'Shadows of Ice' deserves a low four stars.
