will the MSI GT70 fit in this case

This case will not physically be able to support the MSI GT70, the maximum laptop dimensions are: 16.4" (L), 1.7" (H), and 11.8" (W), and the MSI GT70 dimensions are: 16.85" (L), 2.17" (H), 11.34" (W).

How well padded are the corners?

The corners are not heavily padded. This is a lightweight carrying case. If you want more padding, you should look at another product. I like this case because it is light and compact and has plenty of storage capacity. I carry it inside of my back pack so I'm not concerned about padding.

Can I fit an ASUS VivoBook of 14 inches?

Yes you can. i really like this case. it has a place for your cords and a separate area for tablets. I use a Dell Precision M4700 which is 15" W and 10"D and just over an 1" thick and it works great. I also have an I pad with a thick Garmin case and it all fits together easily. Highly recommend it.
